I have been a parent and employee with the East Bay Waldorf School for 9 years. Many things have happened that have been questionable regarding both children and employees. Some stories I can tell, others are not for me to say anything about.
The below article is about an incident that occurred this last Jan. How the school has lied about it is the reason my family will not be returning this fall.
From teachers pulling on ears, hitting students with sticks to not having legal amounts of wood chips or toilets to not having employees sign mandated reporter paperwork, this school has smoothed out its last story with me. I am disappointed, disgusted and worried that it will continue on as it has. Some people I've talked to say, "I feel so abused by that place I just want to move on with my own family." I have not been as affected as say, the mom who wrote the statement below and I feel a certain amount of moral and social responsibility because I know so much.
Every year or so they claim they want to "be more transparent." I've seen no progress of that.

Sadly this is nothing new in the litany of Waldorf complaints.

Waldorf schools do nothing about bullying because they see it as part of each individual child's karmic journey.

You can expect this thread to be deleted as Waldorf/ Steiner schools are very vigilant about what gets posted about them and they tend to complain very aggressively to sites that host complaints.

I have posted this article on Nextdoor and many people have left messages that cannot be deleted. I will tell them on Nextdoor if/when it gets booted off of here. (I shan't be surprised, but will look at it as them giving me more fodder. :)

I do know about the, "it's the child's karma, we don't want to interfere with their spiritual progress" stuff.
