For all those MCs getting upset by the truth here, let me get this straight.

I think you pay far too much tax.... OK?

......

The government knows it can squeeze much more out of you.

That's it.

IntMum · 22/01/2014 21:38

"i make contributions you dream of making...."

Go on then PLEASE enlighten us....love to know what I dream of...fwiw, I use my highly transferable skills sets...in IT ...for a US company with subsidiaries all over Europe as I told you, so they pay my wages and I got my job against other candidates in France, Holland and Germany ...so it could have been anywhere...hence mobile ...

Not sure where I complained about any lack of handouts...what are they - I have never claimed any? ...i pay for private education, private healthcare and a private pension scheme...so given my higher rate tax deductions, think I am a net contributor to the state not a net taker. Which are you though?

TalkinPeace · 22/01/2014 21:38

gaba
you clearly do not understand entrepeneurship

my local niche is in my county : it pays me well to work between my yoga and swimming habits

another family member had a local niche in Philadelphia that suits them fine
another family member has a local niche in San Francisco
another has a local niche in Montana
another has a local niche in Seattle
another has a local niche in Cornwall

my living is not defined by listed companies
my niche is defined by combining my lifestyle requirements, my skills and the ability to see what those inside the boxes will never see

what is your particular skill?

morethanpotatoprints · 22/01/2014 21:47

Ahh.

What those inside the boxes will never see.
Music to my ears.

I love you TalkinPeace Thanks

gaba · 22/01/2014 21:51

Well intmum, if you are so sick of paying all this tax, why not take your highly transferable skills set, and transfer right off to somewhere where the tax is a million times lower?

'I'd really like to know'

IntMum · 22/01/2014 21:55

Still not telling us what you contribute that we can only dream of eh then??? Shame...

gaba · 22/01/2014 21:55

Talikinpeace

The point is this...You are complaining about the tax... The government KNOW they can have you for much more tax.

If you guys are so 'mobile' , stop complaining and start mobiling off.

TalkinPeace · 22/01/2014 21:56

gaba
what do you contribute?

TalkinPeace · 22/01/2014 21:58

gaba
please link to the post where I compain about tax ....

I'm an accountant
never in a million years would I be silly enough to allow my declared earnings go over whatever limit was imposed Wink

and I've never said I'm mobile : Dorset is about my limit thankyou Grin

I repeat my question though : what to you contribute to the economy

gaba · 22/01/2014 22:04

Int mum.

You seem like a clever cookie to me...

'my contribution that you can only dream of is...' This should be an easy one.

gaba · 22/01/2014 22:06

That should have been..

Come on guys... its not so hard to guess this is it?

gaba · 22/01/2014 22:12

Charley...

Good luck, if I had a better plan I'd be off tomorrow.

People are angry at me for doing exactly what they really want to do themselves.

The point I am making here is that many people here talk a good 'n , but if the government doubled your tax today, you would still be here tomorrow.

IntMum · 22/01/2014 22:24

OK we give up...are you in the circus, gaba?...a trapeze artist perhaps?

IntMum · 22/01/2014 22:26

IntMum · 22/01/2014 22:33

I think if you actually have mastered the art of somersaulting from a swing and flying 13 metres into the arms of a catcher, then that is a supremely transferable skill...

SnowBells · 22/01/2014 22:36

But CharleyBarley - I moved countries once as a kid (around 5 years old) and then again after A-levels. I left friends behind, but I would have hated being in the same place for the rest of my life with the exact same friends. Thinking about it - many of my friends moved countries, too. I think your DH's company was a little bit stingy - as said, a colleague moved from Europe… and he got way more than your DH for relocation (several thousands). £1-2k is very low, as many people spend 3x that amount on business trips alone.

In our US office, medical insurance is paid for. According to my manager, people at my level have more than 2 weeks holidays (said something about 2 weeks more of a holiday for more junior / more manual type jobs), and he worked in the US for other companies, too. Granted - the thing about maternity pay, but I would never take more than 3-4 months of maternity leave even here in the UK (more than that is a career suicide in my line of work).

I also have family and friends in the US, and I do know the US is not the kind of place you want to be unemployed in. But there's ups and downs everywhere...

SnowBells · 22/01/2014 22:50

gaba

What's wrong with you? Why do you want to store everyone up? FWIW - there are many companies out there allowing opportunities of moving abroad. Mine does. My husband's does.

My family does not even live in the UK. Grew up in several countries. So I have been brought up knowing I can move. My childhood friends have worked anywhere - US, Canada, France, China… there really is no barrier for people internationally-minded like us. Many of us have parents from two different countries.

However, I have a British DH, and as it turns out, UK schools are sh*t in teaching modern languages. We can one day move to the US or Canada though, if we want to. That option is there.

Please don't spread your propaganda saying that "MC people are stuck". You never are, if you are intelligent and efficient. Yes, there are people who are not really good at what they do… but that does not the entire MC population make.

Do you test beds at a furniture retailers?
Are you unemployed and stay in bed all day?
Do you perform sexual favours and fantasies that people can only dream of?
