A few days early I know, but most of the entrance exams will be out of the way in a fortnight or so, and I'm sure there are a number of us who are in need of Brew or Biscuit or Wineas we watch our (still very little) boys forget everything that they may have learned over the last couple of years. And there are many veterans of the process who will hopefully be around to reassure us that we will all come through this unscathed.

Mrs step toe have you thought about a job in school admissions lol ? well said a quick email would put us all out if our misery. ( might even give you a discount ) SO glad I only have to do this once !!! still waiting .....

Southwestmum73 · 16/01/2014 10:00

Has anyone heard back for 10+ at T yet? Music scholarship appointments next week and heard nothing.

FatalFlowerGarden · 16/01/2014 10:31

Just popping in to say, we waited over two weeks to hear about ds's interview. I was at the end of my tether (you can read all about it on last year's thread!) Of course, that turned out to be just the beginning, but we got there in the end and now ds is very, very happily settled in the Lower First at W.

Good luck all. I found Wine and Cake tremendously helpful!

(hi croydonmum and somelikeithott btw! )

Hi, Has anyones son taken the test at Trinty school Friday 10th 2014? I am feeling a bit anxious because I have not heard anything yet. My son has an interview for Whitgift on Friday but he most want to go to Trinity. We heard on Saturday for Whitgift re arranging interview but not heard a thing yet from Trinity. I am suddenly thiking he did not get through. Letters will be posted out today for boys that have not been successful. I have not heard anything as yet and some of the boys who have taken the have not either. I am wondering if the call re order of surname and as my sons is W maybe we have not heard. Hoever, they have had since Monday to mark the papers and a lot less boys took the test at Trinty than Whitgift.

milkqueen · 16/01/2014 10:39

Me too. He did ther 11 plus on /friday and still no phone call. Getting a bit nervous now and think letters posted today re boys not passing test will be one for me.

mummyinatizz · 16/01/2014 10:53

postman has arrived with an invite to W 10+ sports assessment on Monday - yippee! one very happy DS - off sick today!

MrsSteptoe · 16/01/2014 11:11

It seems that no-one's yet heard from Trinity, so although I too am beginning to feel despondent, I think it's irrational. I doubt all our boys tanked, so it's more likely that they haven't yet made many calls. Deep breaths all round...

LadyMuck · 16/01/2014 11:21

All the Trinity papers have been marked apparently, and certainly our prep school was called on Tuesday with the "results". It just takes to make the calls. All the boys who sat Whitgift (from our school) seem to have been called, and those who have sat for cocurricular have been called.

Ds is currently the only child in his class who hasn't already got an offer (girls schools offered before Christmas) or interview. Rationally I know that that is partly because we didn't sit Whitgift. Emotionally I wish I could shield him from all this. Thankfully he is more resilient and optimistic than me.

It just takes time to make the calls.

Is this correct that more boys sat Whitgift than Trinity ?

LadyMuck · 16/01/2014 11:46

Usually that would be the case. Whitgift take a lot more boys than Trinity. Trinity will take 70, Whitgift 120 or so.

Sorry -that is in terms of 11+ numbers. The numbers vary at each age.

Feeling really bad now. Looked four pages back and found some boys have been called for scholorship interviews. I had no idea the schools were contacted to let them know who have passed the test. If all papers have been marked, why dont the teachers at our school let us know it they have already been informed. I guess my son has not passed eventhough he felt he did well. He answered all the English questions for the 11 + 97 out of 100 questions for verbal reasoning and mised one of the maths questions. I was horrified that when asked if he did paragraphs for his story and he said he did two pages but no paragraphs. Maybe thats why. I feel so anxious now that I have heard on this site some people have tines for sports and music scholorship. Hes down for both sports and music and feel maybe hes not been successful. Not looking forward to receiving letter tomorrow.

milkqueen · 16/01/2014 12:07

By the way, this is for Trinity school. I will be at work tomorrow and will call them after 1 because I am at my witts end.

Hipster1 · 16/01/2014 12:16

I don't think more did sit Trinity. In fact Trinity had so many applications that they had to do two different days - one for 10+ and one for 11+. Whitgift held them both on the same day I believe.

LostinLondon · 16/01/2014 12:16

Hi all, just found this thread and very interested in comments. Going through 11+ with DS at the moment - Dulwich and Whitgift. Had interview for Dulwich earlier this week - DS was a bag of nerves which didn't help and got brain freeze when asked pretty standard questions. Got Whitgift interview next week but we haven't heard re sports assessment day. Does this mean they're not considering him for a sports scholarship but are for a 'normal' place?

LadyMuck · 16/01/2014 12:17

"If all papers have been marked, why dont the teachers at our school let us know it they have already been informed"

They will have been asked by the senior schools not to, and won't want to harm their relationship with the senior schools. That said if it was a "no" all round then your prep school should be prompting you to sit reserve dates for other schools if you haven't already entered for them.

Milkqueen there is not rhyme or reason and everyone will get called in due course. It is tense and I feel for you having gone through it last year.

LadyMuck · 16/01/2014 12:19

Hipster1, Trinity have always done different days for 10+ for some years now.

LadyMuck really? The headmaster's letter indicated this was unusual and he was sorry that the school was closed to boys this year (Friday) due to sheer volume of numbers? However, I am not an authoring on this. I know that over 800 sat in Total across all ages ranges.

Hipster1 · 16/01/2014 12:23

Ah authoring... I mean authoring. I need a better keyboard on my phone.

Hipster1 · 16/01/2014 12:24

Give up... stupid phone. Authority is it so difficult.

LadyMuck · 16/01/2014 12:27

The schools have had set days for the exams for years in order to avoid clashes. 11+ has been Whitgift Thurs/Trinity Fri/Caterham Saturday for as long as I can remember. Wilsons used to be Monday I think (when it was held in January - it has of course been forced to move). Royal Russell has caused upset this year by moving from its traditional Sunday to Tuesday, thus clashing with Old Palace and Reigate Grammar.

Hello all.

I rememer the Angst for last year.
Waves to Fatal and all.

So glad I am not going through this again. But this will be me in a few years again.

Good Luck all.

Kimalima · 16/01/2014 12:35

Yes Ladymuck there does seem to be a pattern. Last year DS sat

RR on Friday 4th
Whitgift on Thursday 10th
Trinity on Friday 11th
Caterham on Saturday 12th

All sent offer letters on the same day. At least with Whitgift and Trinity if you get asked for interview, you do know you have passed the exam at least. With Caterham they interviewed before the exam and RR on the same day.

I feel for you all.
