Anybody else feel sad about saying goodbye to your child's teacher?

I just love dd1's reception year teacher, she is fantastic, but now it's nearly time to say goodbye and I feel so sad.
It doesn't help that she will actually be a year one teacher next year, but dd1 won't be in her class - feel jealous of the children who did get into her class!

It is sad to say goodbye to them, especially if they have been good teachers. DD's teacher is leaving the school this year, she has been with DD for 2 years so it will be really sad to see her go.

Yeah I know what you mean Emkana. DS1's reception teacher is the same, she has worked wonders with DS1. She is leaving our school too

yes, although ds has only been at the school since may, ive been helping in his class and his teacher is lovely, sadly she is retiring after 3o years as a teacher at that school

Ds1's Reception teacher was lovely. She seemed to know instinctively how to handle ds1 when he was having a bad day. I felt when he left her class as I was sure ds1 would never get another teacher as nice as her. His Yr1 teacher is very different to the Reception teacher but also fantastic with ds1. Now that ds1 is getting ready to go into Yr2 I'm feeling sad all over again.

My dd2 left playschool this time and I was very sad as they have been fantastic and dd1s teacher was very good when she was ill so we have loads of people to miss this year

I've got a week left with DS2s reception teacher She's been brilliant. I just hope she's still there when DD starts in 5 years time!!

I went to DS2 nursery graduation yesterday, and last night I couldn't stop crying ( i can honestly say I have not felt this sad since my grandad dies 3 years ago!)

He was at the nursery f/t and I will miss his teacher soooo much, she doesn't have a bad bone in her body.DS2 will also be leaving C/M who we have been with for 7 years and I feel so bereft(sp?) I sat on the loo last night and sobbed so loudly DH came in!!

Christie we are having a BBQ for our leavers too!
I am dreading the final assembly as I am sure to cry and am stood at the front facing th whole school

I keep telling dd1 how fantastic it will be to have a new lovely teacher, while not believing it myself!

I do know this feeling and I always feel a abit sad at the end of the school year because I feel this is another year of their childhoods gone, but I don't think I am going to miss any of the teachers this year. Maybe dd's teacher. Not ds1's teachers (job share) as he has been in Year 5 and I hardly know them, and certainly not ds2's teacher who has plainly not liked ds2 one bit and has always been unhelpful and rude to me, and has given him a report which has upset me all weekend.

Anyway, I am pleased with all the teachers they are going to have next year, so I am looking forward to them havng a new start in September.

Oops! Didn't read the whole thread before posting so I didn't realise what a love-in this was. I* will take my resentment and cold heartedness elsewhere.

DG, I will no doubt feel like you by the time my children move up through school!

but in hte meantime my first child is about to go into Year 1 and I feel very much like emkana. It's a big step!
