dd1 school report 80.6% attendance, ifeel so ashamed.

especially with regards to the head teachers comments.

dd1 time off school has mainly nothing to do with dh illness but everything to do with her bad asthma and eczema, and 10 out of the 50 sessions missed were due to the asthma attack dd1 had at school and the steroids etc that she had to take afterwards, and my loss of trust in the school.

overall her report is good and very positive. i just got to the last page and well, am a bit peeved at the note. i think i will be using leahE's respose

PS totally different circumstances but my dd has missed almost a whole year of school. Tbh the school have not been very helpful or supportive (I guess through lack of resources) but now that I am pulling her out of that school the LEA and EWO are being fantastically supportive, not throwing accusations around. It makes me that you are made to feel bad about the legitimate reasons for dd's absences

Don't let it get to you misdee. When she's well she's at school, you don't need to justify yourself to them. It's no like you're swanning off to Benidorm is it - yeah I know - chance would be a fine thing huh?

my son has had alot of ear problems and alance problems due to his ears.he has had constant ear/chest infections and chronic ear pain.he has now finally had grommets on friday and he is now off school again as he isnt responding well to them.his school report had 89% attendance on it and the comment poor next to it.the back page had dates and reasons of non attendance and every single one was a reported non attendance for illness reasons.not shopping or holiday etc and he still got it written on his report! id take it with a pinch of salt.even my friends child who was only off from chicken pox had unacceptable written next to his attendance and she's a school governor! ve been told to ignore it and concentrate on their work efforts etc.if they were that worried they would talk to you direct about it.they should be more bothered with the children whose parents simply cant be bothered to take them to school etc.im sure they know thats not the reason for you and are hapy with why the child hasnt been there.i like leahe's response.!
