french exchange with completely bilingual student ...what's the point?

dd has exchanged with a french student and she has been staying with us for nearly a week.The kids from france go to an international school near paris ,and all the french kids are completely bilingual as they've either lived in the states for yrs or have english speaking parents.It puzzles me as to why dd's school would arrange an exchange when our english kids aren't challenged at all.
Not really that concerned just curious,is this something you've experienced?

No, nothing I've experienced but I can imagine it would be a giggle to live with a real famille anglaise!
