Hi were moving in august once married, into navy housing in gosport. We have 3 children on will be starting reception in sept, one juniors an one secondary we already have great school here lined up for secondary an 2 others settled in current school with outstanding ofsted grades.I have contacted education and im waiting on reply but would really love any input on schools in that area and knowledge of area itself,im aware it a high naval/army area as well as council.Im just scared to move and the kids ending up unhappy in rubbish schools etc,we do not know anyone or the place nor have we ever moved out of Liverpool its rather daunting experience, any help an info would be greatly received thanks x

least said soonest mended.
get in there, then find out what you think
Bay house does OK with lots of its kids.

I group up in gosport and currently (temporarily) live here. Bay house is a good school with a particularly good sixth form. Do you know which area you will be in, as that will be the main dictator of where they go. Any of the bay house feeders are fine, as are many of the other primaries.

Grew, not group!

A third vote for bay house. We have friend with DC there and they are both dong excellently, and are very different. It's a very big school, but that allows space for everyone to find their niche.

Another recommendation for bay house. My DS is in year7. He loves it and us doing very well academically. Crofton is also a very good secondary school. As for primary schools Alvertoke, Gomer and Lee-on-Solent are probably the best in the area. My youngest DS is at newtown which is average. Good luck with your move!

If your DC is going into year7 in sept you stand a good chance of getting into whichever secondary school you choose as it's a very low birth year

Try St Edmund's in Portsmouth for secondary, full I believe but lots of kids from Gosport. Ofsted Good but heading for Outstanding.

St Edmonds is Catholic and st Mary's catholic primary school in gosport is in ccatchment.
