2 dds 2ndary school have just annonced that for years 7-9, they will have a review day where parents talk to form tutor for 15mins about the how the childs learning is going/could be improved instead of meeting with all the subject teachers.
Personally, I'm not impressed. I've found it really useful to speak to subject teachers in the past and when else are you going to meet them. Views, please.

plus these reviews then help with communication in Years 11,12 & 13 and we are chasing missing GCSE/AS/A2 coursework. I have chased a number of parents recently who have them got the little darlings out of bed and into school to sort out problems. The little dears tell the parents one thing and the teachers another. My thanks go to those parents over the past fortnight who have really made their children focus!

We had both this year which I found really helpful. The review day gave me a bit more time to talk to DS1s form tutor, and the head of year sat in for a bit which was fantastic as I had a gripe which was more appropriate for him to hear. We then recently had parents evening where we were given five minute slots with particular teachers - you chose the ones you wanted to see. Win-win!
