HELP! anyone know what happens if you miss future day in sixth form???

DS1 is in year 12, he will be applying for uni in September, forms have to be in by October half term, HOWEVER they have something called future day coming up (I never did this so I have no clue) it is the day before they break up (please don't flame me for this we are meant to be going away) what happens if DS misses this does anyone know?

Ask the school. I'm head of 6th form at my school and we don't have a Future Day, so it must be specific to that school. It's not going to have any bearing on his UCAS application. If they want forms in for October half term (actual deadline is January 15th by the way) then references will be done by then too. Have you/will you need to fill in a holiday form anyway? Speak to his form tutor/head of year- they will be able to explain more.

Ah, misread- though future day was the day before Oct half term... Either way, it sounds to me like a day where they go over the UCAS application process and/ or talk to students about the options for the future. I very much doubt it's something he can't find out about at another time.

Thank you twin, school is closed now for 2 weeks and we need to make the changes before it re-opens (my mother has booked the holiday and paied already (she got the dates wrong and thought they broke up the day before we go not the day after

DS1 is statemented so I think there will be people to help him anyway but I don't want him to lose out at all
It has caused rows with my mum and much upset

As Evil said, contact them and ask what the day involves. I am head of sixth in our school and our equivalent involves getting them logged onto the UCAS website, teaching them how to do course searches, talks on student finance, gap years, writing personal statements etc. It is a useful day but there is nothing the students can't find out/ do for themselves they just have to work a bit harder. I only started running it two years ago and they always managed before!

Thank you cat, it is all such a mess, Mum booked the holiday as out Christmas gift, she thought the school broke up the day before we go but it is the day after

Talk to the school.

As he is statemented, he should be able to get it covered beforehand in tutorial periods etc.

I was really looking forward to the Holiday but it is all a mess now.

He does have several "free study" periods a week and an LSA that he can call on.
