Theres a very good chance that in 12 months time we will move(possibly to scotland). How much of an impact will this have on the DSes, esp DS1, education

as DS1 goes into year 11 in September of this year. DS2 will be in year 9.
Theres a good chance we will be moving to scotland, but it could also be england.
DS1 obviosuly is sstudying for GCSE. Now I realise that moving to scotland especially wouldn't be ideal due to the differences in education. Is it possible that it will have less of an impact if we move now, before they start another schoool year?

That's a good question! Depending on his age he could start S3 or S4. This year's S4 pupils will be the last to sit standard grades - usually 8 -children now in S3 and further down through school are doing the new 'Curriculum for Excellence'. S5 (Y12) is the biggie where pupils hoping to go to university usually sit 5 Highers - usually English, Maths +3.
