What steps should I reasonably expect the school to take to counter bullying?

I'm meeting the head tomorrow morning to discuss his actions and what he will be doing about the bullying

How should this be handled?

My daughter had been bullied at school, resulting in schoolphobia and low self esteem. I was very lucky last week to take her to London on a assertiveness training course with kidscape - It was extremely emotional but amazing. The experience really does seem to have had a positive effect on her. I don't know if she will return to school, this course was more of a damage limitation exercise than anything. I am seriously thinking of home educating her. I hope things go well with you and you daughter.
