Entrance exams looming- tell me how you handled the stress

Dd is about to go into year 6. We have 6 months ahead which will map out her future for the next few years.

DD is fine about it all at the moment, admittedly she is not 11+ material and we don't have that pressure anyway where we live, but still it is a case of getting into the right schools. We're not in London but I have read all the horror stories and followed the threads about people not getting places at their preferred schools. Dd is pretty average academically but she has other talents which are what will make the difference as to which school she goes to.

I have been nervous about this coming year for the last 12 months or so. I suppose it comes from not really knowing what is right for her. Life has thrown us a curve ball and she will be unexpectedly taking the first of these exams next week. We have done all we can to prepare her. It is me that is not handling the stress very well- although I don't let her see it. I am not sleeping very well and I feel physically sick. Please come and tell me your experiences- good or bad. Just to take my mind off it.

Looking back on it I think it was one of the most stressful experiences I have had. My dc was doing the exam for getting into a super selective grammar.

I understand where you are, you're probably exhausted.
Dont worry it will be ok.
You'll be signing the form soon accepting a place.
