Never fear, they'll have a brilliant time at Glasgow. And don't worry about what you read here about job prospects; it's somewhat exaggerated.

The job prospects thing is massively over exaggerated, most employers don't care except for the big graduate schemes (and even a lot of them don't care too much either.)

A lot of incredibly successful people went to far less prestigious universities than Glasgow - or didn't go to university at all.

I agree that the employability thing is being exaggerated. Even for the big graduate schemes. Possibly the most academic commercial chambers in Lincoln's Inn have only entrants with truly star studded CV's, sporting a disturbing confluence of full blues and college scholarships as well as the extra accolade of a BCL and a stint in the US, but even the Magic Circle looks urban and easily accessible after that.

I don't think DS1 will be going to university anyway, he is very unacademic, though sporty. We are taking a long term approach to employability; DS does a paper round, to help him get a Saturday job, to help him get a holiday job, to help him get a job!

DS 2 would love st Andrews and could travel if necessary, I just have to get his dyslexic brain through his high school exams.

Thank good I live 500 miles away from London, distance gives you perspective on the whole madly competitive scene. (I did live in London for many years so can compare).
