Schools with 7+ intake: North London/South Herts

GirlsInWhiteDresses · 09/01/2012 10:58

Does anyone know the schools with a decent academic leaning that have a 7+ intake?

The only two I know of are Habs and Belmont (Mill Hill) but the intake is only 6 girls for Habs and coming from a state school, those odds seem very low.

Any others we may be overlooking?

Thanks.

The odds seem high, even :)

I think you need to give more detail about what you are looking for. Are you looking for a :

Prep school - age 4-13
Private primary- age 4-11
Secondary independent - 4-18

Are you specific about co-ed, single sex ??

Just to add, Secondary indy as in a prep thst goes all the way to secondary, thus avoiding hassle of further tests and Possible CE.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the lack of information - we're rather new to this business.

We're looking for a girls/co-ed school that goes from 4-11 as a minimum. We are considering a transfer for one child at 7+ and for the second one at 5+. We have missed the 5+ intake for the older girl. A school that feeds into an independent school at 11 would be good but not essential. We would not consider a boarding school.

Thanks.

Thats okay Smile

There's a lovely prep called "heath mount" up in Watton at stone, not far from ware and stevenage. Co-ed goes from i think 4-13yrs (day and boarding, with boarding only available in yr 8 if im correct), main feeder is "haileybury college" in hertford which starts at 11, so you have the option of dc joining at 11 or 13, also feeds into bishop stortford college another very good idea, including several other good indies.

Theres a Girls only prep (day only) in potters bar called "Stormont" also with a very, very good reputation but dont know much more about it. check their websites, and lets know what you think Smile

Just to add, there is "Aldenham school" coed which goes all the way up to age 18, it has mixed reviews as a not very academic school, but some say its lovely, definitely worth a look, and you've already mentioned Habs.
