when i filled in dd's forms for her to sart school(reception) i ticken the yes box to concent them to use pics of dd on theure website and in leaflets ect and this morning most of the moms said they said no as it is too risky as whats been going on lately with all these sick B**tards kidnaping children,

do you think i should go in to day and say no

what do you do???

I think the risk of your child's photo being misused in any way after appearing on a school website is really low tbh nikcola. The recent horrific cases involving cruelty to young children were not in any way caused by photos of classroom activity.

I consented.

PrincessPeaHead · 12/01/2006 13:39

Yes.
Let's face it school photos aren't the most interesting thing in the world are they

Marina · 12/01/2006 13:40

pph. They certainly aren't on ds' school's website!

sparklymieow · 12/01/2006 13:41

I concented too, but i know that the school only use first names anyway.

PrincessPeaHead · 12/01/2006 13:42

there are more photos of goats and shetland ponies than children on dd's school's website.
more photogenic

Wills · 12/01/2006 13:42

I don't but a lot of me agrees with Marina. I think my reasons stem more from an argument I had with my dm because she had applied to some modelling agencies with their photos.

littlerach · 12/01/2006 13:47

We agreed, and as a result DD1 has been in the local papers 5 times since September!

But they don't put a name next to her, so am not too bthered.

tensing · 12/01/2006 14:02

I concented on the condition that their names are not used with their photos in any outside publication or on any website. Also only pictures taken when fully clothed ie not during PE or swimming.

Enid · 12/01/2006 14:02

oh fgs I despair

but if I was tactful I would have said what Marina said

oliveoil · 12/01/2006 14:06

lol enid

I am beginning to foam at the mouth in an attracive rabid dog manner today

nikcola · 12/01/2006 15:00

sorry if i sturred something up

I rather smirk at pictures of DD1, I have to say, preening smugly.

tensing · 12/01/2006 16:10

Enid

was that comment directed at me?

tortoiseshell · 12/01/2006 16:13

i said yes, any sicko can see the children coming out of school anyway, don't think school photos increase any supposed risk at all.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 12/01/2006 16:14

I would let them.

You cant let sick perverts dictate how you live your life, then they have won. Next people will be saying children cant go swimming or do PE outside as a pervert may walk past the school and look at the children etc... It would get to the point where we are all home schooled and do not leave the house.

There have been some horrific cases in the news lately but these are not the norm.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2006 16:16

Never occurred to me not to give consent TBH.

Pinotmum · 12/01/2006 16:19

What's to stop some paedophiles taking their own photos of children from a distance? I would agree to the school request without concern.
