Just asking, really.
DS going into yr6. DH went through public school system, I went to a the local Comp and both of us did well.
DS's local secondary school is good, but I'm wondering what our options would be locally - any recommendations (and any to avoid?)
Thanks

QEGS? Silcoates? A bit further out at Skipton there are also two fantastic state grammars

yes state grammars in skipton fab, though hard to get into.
QEGS is very academic, very good at rugby, fairly tough environment but lots of boys exit to good universities.
Silcoates is wonderful, also has very many high achieving pupils but a rump of less able kids at the bottom end that make league table results less good on paper. main sport for boys also rugby. Head approachable and staff very committed.
Ackworth is very small indeed, as a quaker school doens't play rugby, strong pastorally.
No nothing about wakefield independent school.
Have just written about GSAL on a thread in sec ed if you want to read that.
