Schools full of unique marvellous kids ...

Is there any way a school can keep parents from feeling their unique marvellous kids are just another kid in the class?

Maybe it's a problem I'm having with DS1's current teachers, but I just don't really feel he is treasured, considered special, whatever, there. Realistically, I know he's just one in a class of 23 treasured special marvellous unique kids.

Do I just have to cope, and get used to reality? Or can teachers somehow prevent me feeling annoyed like this?

I think you just have to cope tbh. I'm happy if, at parent's evening and report time, the teacher is clearly talking about my DSs and not generic nonsense.

Hmm... I don't usually feel like that at parent's evening.

Having said that I think the staff at our school have had some training on parents' evening; as everyone I've spoken to was told "I really enjoy having XXX in the class because ..." (insert some individual reasons). And it seems to have had a really positive impact on parents!

I haven't let on to other people how many parents were told the same thing

You know, I'm probably mostly just annoyed because he had a very minor role in the Xmas thing, and because he is only very rarely chosen for the important job of holding the door open for parents at the end of the day.

They do ok at parents' night, and they do seem fairly aware of his personality.

DSs parents evenings and reports have always been so completely them so maybe I've been spoilt in that way. I feel sure that the teachers actually have known which child they ar talking about.
