I have no contempt for my parents Smile
I am also a taxpayer.
Are you?

ClenchedBottom · 28/05/2011 16:43

I also pay a lot of tax - where does this idea come from, that everybody else pays for teachers????

mrz · 28/05/2011 16:48

Ok Cain last month I spent

Butterfly Kit £59.99
Silk handkerchiefs £15
Silk paint £32.85
Books from Amazon £104.22
Tomato plants £5.00
various fruit & veg £?

out of my salary because there is no money to pay for extras!

Cain · 28/05/2011 16:49

ClenchedBotttom (love the name btw) I really do have a clue. I was at uni with friends who have gone on to teach. I know the myth of the holidays and I value the contribution but I cannot accept that striking for better pension entitlement is acceptable as a mother of a child who is going to be paying taxes for the overspend of the last government. And I voted labour so shoulder the burden there.

Cain · 28/05/2011 16:50

mrz you are getting bogged down in details which matter not.

mrz · 28/05/2011 16:51

How much of your salary to you allocate so that your clients/customers get a better service?

cornsilks · 28/05/2011 16:51

Ah! You know a teacher so know all about teaching. Osmosis perhaps?

mrz · 28/05/2011 16:53

Cain I was just pointing out the finger paints we buy are expensive nowadays Smile

Cain · 28/05/2011 17:03

Mrz I work in sales so loss versus profit is part of my planning - don't be silly teachers are not the only ones who spend to speculate.

No I know little of teaching. I am a parent of a child diagnosed with adhd, dyspraxia and dyslexia who until the age of 11 could not read but can now because I (not the school) utilised toe by toe and he can now read very well but No, what do I know?

I have been dragged down into debates about specifiics but ultimately this thread (I thought) was about discussing the rights and wrongs of striking for pension entitlements. Britain can't afford previously thought pension arrangement - that is a fact. So what will striking change?

mrz · 28/05/2011 17:17

How am I spending to speculate?

I'm spending money I don't have to because I hope it will benefit my pupils
Yes and I've also purchased Toe by Toe and hundreds of other resources

mrz · 28/05/2011 17:21

I think it was you who accused me of being a drain on society that dragged things down. Teachers are subsidising children's education from their salaries because we are just in it for the gain what was it you said money grabbing? selfish?

You still haven't said how much of your salary you spend on your clients

Cain · 28/05/2011 17:21

cornsilk I have respect for you of old, ds' school let him down in terms of dyslexia but I know that is not teachers fault as norm. This is really about the big picture and not about specifics. I believe a strike is a bad idea, and quite strongly. Not individually, but strongly.

Mrz you claim away, we know what you are after.

ClenchedBottom · 28/05/2011 17:30

?!?!?!?!? Confused Cain have you read the rest of the thread?

Feenie · 28/05/2011 17:31

I've reported your post -so unnecessarily aggressive and abusive.

What exactly do you spend your 2k on? Do try to explain without the abuse, please.

Cain · 28/05/2011 17:43

Oh dear! you have reported my post because you know that teachers fail the kids who needs support and that offends you? Yet you still think teachers deserve extra pension entitlements? You silly person.

cornsilks · 28/05/2011 17:45

I think it was the personal attack on Mrz that has caused offence Hmm

mrz · 28/05/2011 17:49

So Cain out of your salary you hand over £2K a month to your clients (from your own pocket not expenses)?
Would you like to see my Amazon account?
My receipt from Green gardner? or Artyfects? or the one from Andrell for software and Maths resources? (I forgot about those earlier)

ClenchedBottom · 28/05/2011 17:50

Cain - you're adding nothing to this thread now, just ranting aggressively.

fivecandles · 28/05/2011 17:51

'Britain can't afford previously thought pension arrangement - that is a fact. '

Cain, you're not listening. The teachers' pension scheme is self-sustaining. The money is there to pay for the pensions that were agreed in 2006.

However, the Government would like us to pay more each month so it can use that money to offset the deficit.

Newflash - teachers did not cause the deficit. Bankers did.

As for not being able to afford pensions, please think about what, mysteriously, the Governement DOES find itself able to afford.

100 million to bomb Libya for examplewww.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13432982. Strikes me that that would fund an awful lot of teachers' pensions but oh no, somehow these can't be afforded

Governments decide what to fund and what not to fund.

Feenie · 28/05/2011 17:52

No, I've reported your post as nasty, abusive and breaching MN's terms and conditions of posting.

Here they are for your perusal

Feenie · 28/05/2011 17:53

Still waiting to hear how you spend 2k a month on your clients
