Advice on how to word the letter to current school

My dd is in the pre-prep part of a school that goes through to 18.
We are considering moving her to another prep school. She has an interview next month with the new headmaster, and therefore will require the day off school.

Now don't want to nark off current school as new school and daughter may not hit it off, and therefore don't want burnt bridges, if we choose to keep her where she is.

Any advice as to how you would word the letter to the current school, informing them that she won't be in for the day. Due to her age, she'll blurt out when she goes back that she has been to another school, so can't lie.

TIA

Just tell them the truth about why your interested in looking elsewhere. If they are good they will want to know so that they can consider your reasons and whether they should act on them.

Oh that's good - I think I'll keep inital letter minimal details.
Then if they do ask, then I'll elaborate further - fortunately I don't believe the reasons we are considering a different school can be taken as a slant on their school.
Thank you both for your advice
