Milton Keynes preps - is it really such a dreadful place?

Just seen the house prices in Milton Keynes - wow, how cheap are those prices compared to Surrey!!!!

I know Milton Keynes is slated so much so have never considered it...until now!!!

Is it really that bad (I know it is very new so hasn't got that olde-worlde charm) but what is it like as an area to live? And any thoughts on the schools/preps there?

Would appreciate some thoughts.

no, it's nice.

i think it has everything to appeal to anybody. New/big theatre, a skislope, a football club better than most others in the area (like Luton town, Northampton Town), nice parks, rivers, fields, canals, old churces/villages (Loughton), and Bletchley Park where the ENIGMA code-breaking computer was used.

The shopping centre is as good as any around, and has all of the normal shops/stores, and both the Hub (near the huge Sainsbury's) and Theatre District have good restaurants and entertainment.

I don't agree that it's soulless or lacks history, since there are many older buildings, and what more history is there than the place that housed the device that won World War Two? lol.

I think the OP might have made his/her decision by now, as this thread is SEVEN YEARS OLD

Find out if they have places in the year groups you want. Ring them. Or if they are primary, check if they have taken children from your area. The LA should publish admission data on their web site, but only for year 7 admissions.

Denbigh is hard! Also consider Ousedale and Shenley Brook End.
