Need help with buyer

Hi, I put a heap of fragrance samples on ebay the other day and to my surprise, they ended up going for about £11. I posted them off the next day but added in some extra samples which I found in the house, just to be nice. Anyway, the buyer contacted me to tell me that two of the samples (advertised in the original listing) are damaged. Now, I know that they were not damaged when I sent them and that thaat they were packaged adequately. What do I do? He said that he was contacting me before leaving feedback!

I would email him and say politely that the samples were fine when you sent them and that the packaging was adequate.

You then have 4 options:

  1. Dig your heels in, call his bluff and let him open up a dispute with paypal. Paypal will probably find in his favour in any case but he may well not bother with the dispute particularly as he will have to return the item to you in order to get a refund. It is likely you will not hear from him again but you risk negative feedback.
  1. Invite him to return all the samples including the extra ones you gave him and you will refund in full. If he leaves negative feedback, you can ask for it to be deleted as you gave a full refund.
  1. Invite him to return the damaged samples and you will offer a partial refund.
  1. Let him keep all the samples and offer a partial refund (say £2) as compensation. Point out that you already included extra samples in your package. This is the most galling and unfair but probably the best to get him off your back and if you can't be bothered with the hassle/confrontation.

It wasnt a buyer called Khan-?? was it ??

He scammed me for some perfume recently

peacelover · 29/06/2010 18:50

No it wasn't someone called Khan. Ended up refunding him £2 just to get him to go away. I have a 100% record on ebay and sell all the time but I've just checked my messages and i have a rude message from another buyer saying her package was ripped open when she got it. Makes me a bit worried that the whole batch of packeages that i sent has just been thrown about by some royal mail worker cos I've never had any problems before. It is so frustrating! Sometimes i don't think ebay is worth it.

The second buyer has been so rude and aggressive and had given me my first ever negative feedback. She wouldn't accept me refunding her for the purchase, P&P and return p&P. She just wanted postage refunded as it was a "packaging problem" (it got to her ok - although package allegedly ripped). She threatened me with negative feedback if I didn't give it to her. Reported her for feedback extortion. I've looked at the feedback she's left for other people and they've had similar issues with her apparently. It is so rubbish that you can only give positive feedback as a seller!

you can also ask for the negative to be retracted as she threatened you anyway!

I phoned ebay and they are opening a defamation case. However, it will take up to 2 weeks apparently. I have just decluttered my house and have a ton of stuff on ebay that finishes soon. Potential bidders will see this as my most recent feedback.

really? Ther is a link somewhere where you can fill stuff in and ask for it to be removed

peacelover · 29/06/2010 21:30

I'm off to look for that link. sounds much less hassle. was a £2.20 item. I've really bloody earned that £2.20!

nope. I have to fill in the defamation claim form because it's feedback abuse. I would have been able to under other circumstances.

ah damn it, sorry about that
