Buyer not able to collect in person

I've just had something sold on Ebay that was a collect in person only item as its too big and bulky to send. The person who bought it is obviously new on the site and hasn't understood the collect in person policy and won the item assuming that I would post it to them. I've emailed the buyer letting them know I can't post it. But what do I do know wrt to selling the item - is this a second chance offer thing (never done one - there was one other bid I think) or relist, or do I have to inform Ebay of a problem so I'm not charged to relist?

all i can say is all of the above.....let ebay know, when you purchase something you become part of an agreement with them so they should have read the listing corectly.....this happened to and the buyer received a strike for it you can always just go for the second chance offer, giving the 2nd highest bidder i think its either 24 or 48 hours to purchase the item.....i hope this helps a little

if you are happy with the other bid then you can second chance offer them yes. If you decide to relist you will have to send a notification to the buyer to cancel the transaction to get your fees back.

or report them as non payer but probably not required if they respond to the request to cancel! Easier to second chance offer if you're happy with it!

Thanks for the replies - all sorted. I emailed the person (no response...charming !) and then cancelled the transaction through Ebay with the person having agreed to that. I contacted the 2nd chance person but they are now saying they want it at a discounted rate but as there weren't many bids or watchers I'll probably just have to go with it...bit irritating!

Nooooooooo!! Cheeky buggers. Take your chance and relist?

mel1981 · 30/06/2010 21:32

If they (2nd chance buyers) made at bid at x price they should pay that, dont give it to them at a bargain price- theres no reason to. If they want it they will pay it otherwise relist. Peolpe are getting to cheeky on ebay atm.
