Hi

We bought a static caravan on ebay few days ago ......spoke to the man in person.....got loads of photos , organised our own transport .....and paid .....cash ....on mans request. We are building a house.

Caravan turned up.......GRIM !!! there are dog chewed areas ......smell is unbelievable /doors hanging off ...back door won't evn close or lock, We were stupid not viewing it ...I know !! Photos were very misleading to say the least

Bloke has said no to any form of compensation etc....which we expected, we are now doing it up....but want to complain to Ebay and leave negative feedback ....is there any more we can do ....and do we have any rights to complain since we didn't use paypal

No sorry theres nothing you can do. Its a silly risk you took paying cash and not viewing.
Im afraid, without wanting to sound harsh, you were REALLY asking to be walked over.(and I have an Ebay business so know how it works better than most)

thanks ...I know we were daft ......we scoured over the pics for ages....and it looked in such good condition. We spoke to him on phone and arranged the cash payment so as to avoid fees ...on his request.....Gullable or what ?

Guess I can just go leave neg feedback then....thanks for replying

you can still leave negative feedback regardless of how you paid

bluecardi · 18/06/2010 19:16

If you completed the sale by buying it on the ebay bid or buy it now button then you can leave feedback. If you agreed sale off ebay then no.

thisisyesterday · 18/06/2010 19:17

did you technically buy it through ebay?

or did he end the auction and do it privately?

if the former it ought to show up on "my ebay" under "won" and you can leave feedback.
if the latter then you're screwed. sorry

outinthesticksmummy · 18/06/2010 19:18

poor you, some sellers are horrid, what an unecessary stress for you

Yes, he didnt send what you paid for whether you paid cash or not. If you won the auction then you can complain but really on arrival I would of sent it back. If the photos were not of the van at the time then he's a crook.

We bought a fab static for £3700 from a caravan site in Wales (private owned not holiday let), it was mint, mint, mint. What a great buy, now in the field waiting to be burned out as discusting!

From experience you'll live in this van twice as long as planned. I spent ages on e-bay searching but most were too far away. Glad didnt.

How much do you pay for it?

maxybrown · 26/06/2010 09:06

you can still report him to ebay btw cash or not

maxybrown · 26/06/2010 09:12

or even the police - has been known before.

check this out there is distance selling/buying down the page and e commerce buying. Go to CAB

you can set up a report a problem through ebay, even if you have paid cash
