Item Breached Policy :-s

I have just had a message from Ebay to say that have removed my item as it breaches copyright or whatever - that they had a complaint from the company and removed it. I don't get it...It wasn't like I was selling a copy or anything...I bought an item from a company a few months back - used it once (hardly) and having a clear out put it up on Ebay yesterday and already had a bid!!! Then I get told its infringing copyright...

But its mine. I bought it, paid for it and just don't want it anymore.

Is this right? Can they do this? Doesn't seem fair. Its a bit like selling your CD collection or PS Games isn't it? Or are you not allowed to sell them on Ebay either?

Is it Birkenstocks? I had mine removed for the same reason. Apparently they can stop you selling your own property

scurryfunge · 07/06/2010 19:19

Had to look that up! Maybe they are objecting to reselling the recordings which you are not supposed to do.

firsttimemum77 · 07/06/2010 19:22

But soooooooo many people have it up!
Feel a bit picked on

Advertise it elsewhere, local free ads or similar or car boot....you could probably get away with it there.

Good idea - thanks!

It'll be the wording of the listing or title then probably. Can you post it up how you worded it?

lindsell · 07/06/2010 22:11

Did you copy a picture/info on it from anywhere to put in the listing? e.g. from the official website? Usually it's not the fact you are selling a branded item it's that you have used a protected picture/description/wordng etc

firsttimemum77 · 08/06/2010 07:20

I took the photo myself of the actual item and copied the wording from the box...

Guess that will be it then!

Me too Hurley!

HurleySatOnMe · 08/06/2010 09:48

OOo shadeofvoilet, I bet they employ someone to trawl the ebay listings and repost anyone daring to try selling the Birkies they bought that don't actually fit . It pissed me off no end, it was about 2 years ago. I ended up giving them to the charity shop in the end, but really, how pathetic of them to stop people selling their own stuff.
