eBay Listing Removed

I'm confused! I bought something yesterday, and have just seen a message from ebay saying that that the listing had breached policies, and I should firstly try to contact the seller to get my money back.
But I can't find a record of it anywhere-not in items I've won, or lost! I'm probably being REALLY dim and the solution is obvious, but I'm new to this..and hate confrontation...and have had a really bad day.
Can anyone guide me through this?

Did you pay? did you use paypal?

If you paid through paypal there will be a record there of who you paid.

Go to paypal and look for payment history. That should provide you with a means to contact the seller.

Ok! Thank you! But why would this happen? I mean, is it often? It's just sooo annoying, as I spent money I haven't really got in an attempt to save money. How likely am I to get the cash back? And am I horribly naieve and annoying?
Thank you for such quick replies!

Yes, I 'bought it now' through pay pal. Thank god.

I should think you'll get your money no probs, as long as the seller isn't scamming you and I don't think that happens all that often really.

I have had a few listings that I was bidding on removed recently, I think ebay is cracking down a bit more on fakes and being a bit more strict in general.

Slightly weird, I recieved it this morning. No idea what that was all about then. But thank you for the help!

I had a message from them saying something I bought had been removed and advising me not to pay for it due to fraud. They also told me not to contact the seller as a result, but in the same email told me to contact the seller to resolve the issue..!!?

I was totally confused. Tried phoning their help line, but couldn't understand the people at the call centre (I loathe those foreign call centres at the best of times). So I simply responded to their email saying what was I meant to do.

I filled in the relevant boxes on the email that they would forward to the seller on my behalf. All very confusing, but I got an email this week saying they'd looked at the case and refunded my money.

Still none the wiser what it was all about. But it seems you will get your money back if you reply to their email and jump through the hoops they put there.

Oh btw, I had paid via paypal too. Very glad of that now
