Hi there,

I'd really appreciate some advice on this one. I bought a watch on ebay and it has now arrived. It is not as described, a fundamental part of it is not genuine (it has a cheap movement in it though the case is original).

I am about to email the seller to say I am upset and want a refund. How will this work? Do i ask him to file a mutual withdraw (so his auction fees get refunded)? Can someone please help me understand the safest, simplest and surest way of me getting my money back please? I would be very grateful!

TIA

I would email the seller, state clearly but politely why you aren't happy with the item and request a full refund. Don't worry about his fees, thats his issue.

Give him reasonable time to respond, a few working days and if he either doesn't respond or refuses go straight to the resolution centre and put in a claim. Ebay will deal with it from there.

Don't get involved with a to-ing and fro-ing of emails with the seller. They can get aggressive and its just not worth it.

I've had this happen with a fake copy item and ebay were really good at sorting it out quickly. Seller may be aggressive because if you report to the resolution centre and they spot he is selling a lot of fakes he can have action taken against him.

Goodluck!
