AIBU to think this is bad ebay etiquette?

I have over 250 100% feedback, I both buy and sell. bought an item two weeks ago and was not as such as described, emailed seller to tell her this but to say i wouldnt leave neg feedback. after a week got a email saying please could I leave feeddback, I havent as yet. checked emails today and seller has left a rather shirty email saying as this is the second time shes asked, could I now leave her feedback.

I consider this to be bad form, I dont like to be asked to leave feedback-if I want to I will, if I dont I wont iyswim-usually if the item was not as expected, I just dont leave feedback. I have up to 90(?) days to do so so I begrudge being nagged.

I have never emailed anyone asking for them to leave feedback, they usually do, in their own time.

so what does everyone else think?

It is a bit pushy when someone demands you leave feedback.

Didn't they change the rules recently and if you are scored less than 5 stars for each of the feedback components you(as a seller) get charged a higher final value fee? Or summat? I've not sold anything for a while.

Something similar happened to me not so long ago. I had bought a coat for DD. It said it was 'as good as new' so I bought it but when it arrived it had pen on it and was generally grubby. I did wash it and manage to get the grub out but didn't leave feedback because I had nothing nice to say about it, I'd paid a tenner! The seller asked me to leave feedback and I sent an email back saying the reason I hadn't left feedback was the coat had arrived dirty and was anything but 'as good as new' but I was a mum too and was understanding about kids getting grubby but that I would never sell anything that was dirty and that it been Bad Ebaying.

Might have been a bit preachy but I felt justified.

I would never email and demand feedback. I'd be tempted to leave her negative feedback but that's probably quite mean! I would ignore her completely and not leave feedback at all - your silence will irritate her more.
FWIW on occassions I have decided not to leave any feedback when I haven't been entirely satisfied but have not felt it warrented a negative

Did you buy something from the same buyer as me? I e-mailed her 3 times asking about postage and got no reply but have since had 4 e-mails asking for feedback.

Good to know Im not alone in my opinion. Think I'll let her stew then

Anyone want to place a bet on how many more times she;ll email before giving up lol

Very bad form.

I would never do such a thing, and no one has ever done it to me.

PurpleFrog · 12/03/2010 13:28

I must admit that when I was nearing my 100th feedback I was desperate for my next star and did (politely) e-mail a few buyers asking them to leave feedback to let me know the item had arrived safely.

Now, my next star is so far off that I would never do this, and like others I have pointedly avoided leaving feedback if I was slightly unhappy with the transaction but didn't want to leave a negative or neutral.

I wouldn't be able to resist replying to her messages along the lines of
Dear seller. Feedback on ebay is optional. Selling items not as described is not allowed. Are you really really sure you want me to leave feedback?

maxybrown · 13/03/2010 09:28

I would do as she asked - and leaver her feedback - if she really wants it

I HATE people emailing asking for feedback to be left, really annoys me. Different if people need it to get to their PP funds for new sellers etc, buut then they usuallly say please can you leave feedback if satisfied so my funds can be released. fair enough.

I have had LOADS of people do it lately. I always leave feedback, just do it in bulk usually, and in my own time!
