Cash on collection

I sold an item on ebay last Wed, and have not been paid. I opened a case on Sunday and today received an email from the buyer offering me cash on collection of the item. The ebay email says not to respond if the buyer wants to complete the transaction outside of ebay. I had stated Paypal only in the details. So what do I do now? Should I respond saying Paypal only (suspect they don't have an account as they have lots of feedback for non-payment) or am I not even supposed to email back? Or do I just go with cash on collection and hope they turn up?

I have only sold a couple of things before so am a bit clueless. The other item I sold last Wed has not been paid for either (different buyer) so am wondering if this is all worth it!

are you happy to have the item collected?

if so cash is better
otherwise you can't prove delivery
plus with cash you don't have to pay any paypal fees

We have done cash on collection several times.
Have item by front door son don't have to come into your home.
Take cash.
Type out a receipt and get them to sign it to prove they have taken goods.

The item was collection only but I had it my head that I wasn't protected unless payment was by paypal, but does that only apply to the buyer? Are ebay happy with this sort of arrangement?

househunter it is v common for a larger item to be collection only. I would do like clarice says and get them to sign a receipt so you can keep it to prove they paid.
Just make sure you are comfortable with the collection arrangements, I mean at a time that suits you when there is someone else at home if that is better for you.
