I would be grateful for any advice or even links to old threads.

How do I seel safely and avoid being scammed?
How do I upload photos or link to more? (someone on a previous thread suggested photobucket I assume they wanted you to link to a page with more photos on it)

How do I minimise fees/charges?

How do I avoid people reclaiming the money from my paypal account?

How do I sell books?

Sell books on Amazon rather than ebay - think you're not allowed to charge postage any more.

You have to authorise a claim from your paypal account - they can't just dip into it willy nilly

sell safely / avoid scams - follow the rules to ensure you have seller protection and use common sense.

photobucket - insert the html code from photobucket to the html code of your listing and you will get photos appear on your listing.

minimise fees by not paying for extras. ie photos. Using your title well with good search words is the best way to attract buyers.

paypal - follow the rules for paypal seller protection to avoid chargebacks. Keep your online tracking numbers in the event of a dispute.

Books - Look up completed listings to see how well the books sell. If 10 or more have gone unsold then there is no point listing. If the cost of postage is higher than the amount allowed to charge (p&p is capped for books - see ebay for the limits) then add the extra amount to start price. Pack well - (no jiffy bags) for hardback books use bubble wrap and cardboard to protect the edges/corners and self seal mailers to Make sure the package is waterproof.

I'm selling my first things on EBay & have been asked if I'll send a dress to Bosnia & how much p&p will be. Is this a normal request? Any advice? Many thanks.

simply look up the postage cost on the royal mail website.

More countries are about to join ebay and many of these countries will be looking for items that are scarce in their own country. Luxuries such as designer clothing, baby clothes and toys etc will be in demand. I'd say to anyone selling these things to always open up the chance for these countries to buy. I believe the best way for these countries to buy will be to list as a BIN (I need to go back and read it all again)

If you want to sell to the rest of the world it is best to place the p&p in for all the other countries - that way they don't have to search so hard for your listing and it makes the whole process simpler.

Of course if you just want to sell to the UK you need to set your prefernces to not allow bids from countries to which you don't post.
IMO selling to the world makes more sense than limiting to just this tiny island.
