postage to highlands and islands

Not sure if I am being unreasonable or not. We live in one of those areas which is always extra for delivery in Scotland. We wanted to buy a coffee machine and bid on one which specified postage to UK was £10. We have paid and now the seller says we need to pay an extra £30 delivery because she never realised it would cost extra for delivery here. She says that we lied about where we live to decieve her? But our address and postcode clearly says where we live and she said she would deliver anywhere in Uk for £10.
What should we do?

As far as I know, the Highlands are still a part of the Uk and it is rural bias of the highest order to be penalised for extra postage. I would look for another coffee machine and tell her to keep it.

If she said she would deliver anywhere in the UK for £10 then it is her problem. She should honour her agreement. Perhaps she should see how much Royal Mail would cost as they don't charge extra for delivery to the Highlands and Islands.

Glad it's not just me who thought she should honour it. She said that highlands and islands is not UK so she refused to send it unless we paid extra!
I emailed her and asked her to honour it then the next thing we know, she has refunded our money!!
Strange!
The joys of living in a remote area!!

I would be furious if that happened to me. It sounds like her knowledge of UK geography is non-existent and she has never used a courier before. If I were you, I would be tempted to complain to eBay. I don't see why you should lose out just because she has not done her homework properly before listing.

I was raging Purplefrog!! At least she gave our money back without any more arguments... moving on from the miserable cow!!
