Help, I feel so stupid

Quick question for ebay experts - if part of what I've bought is broken (the buggy hood of a phil&teds buggy) and something is missing that was in the listings (mudguards) and we payed cash on uplift, do we have any recourse?

They're claiming that since DH had a quick look at it that it was fine when he picked it up so even if they took a return we'd have to pay for broken bits?! The hood was snapped in two and wedged inside the cocoon Any thoughts? I've sent very polite e-mails and had rude replies

I'm off out for a few hours but if anyone can give me any advice I'd be really really greatful. I'm totally gutted and wish I'd paid paypal and gone myself to examine in detail. Though if they's sent if surely thet coud still lie like this?

Thank you x

I'm not sure about this TBH. I think you/DH should have checked it carefully before paying.

If the buggy was not listed as broken, and there are parts missing that should have been included, then I would explain this to the seller, and advise that if they do not agree to a refund on the basis that the buggy was sold not as advertised, then you will be reporting them to Ebay.

I have had dealings with Ebay before when a seller used my account to fraudulently sell fake goods and I always found them to be helpful and prompt in their responses. Good luck.

Thanks very much. Yeah the hood was folded into the cocoon and DH just looked at the main body of the buggy. I will get in touch with ebay but not feeling very hopeful.

I think you can open an item not as described dispute through ebay for non paypal transactions. If you can then calmly explain the facts and then fingers crossed they will find in your favour and will refund your money (they then get the money from the seller)

Ebay says I can open a case ten days after listing ended so 19th. I knew paying cash wasn't a good idea but she sounded so nice on the phone. What a mug.
