How to Post an Oversized Item??

Hi Everyone. DH and I are having a massive clearout and we have this on e-bay as collection only. We have had an enquiry asking if we would accept £50 and post the item to them. DH and I are more than happy to do this, but have no idea how to do it. Does the trike have to go in a box? And if so, where in the world would we find a box this big? Will Royal Mail take it or would it have to be courier? Is the £20 extra he's offering enough to cover the postage costs?

Sorry to be a pest, but DH and I have always either done postage for small items or collection for large. I have no clue how to get the trike to this person. Any ideas?

sometimes places like comet or currys have big boxes if you ask them. pack it well, adding tons of protection for any sticky out bits - it WILL get thrown into vans/warehouses etc etc.

check size limits on the royal mail website for the standard parcels

I've posted several large items (prams) and it is quite easy to do. AS SLM suggested, get a box (or some cardboard to wrap around it) and use lots of masking tape to make sure it is secure. Tesco/Asda/B&Q will have large pieces of cardboard, just call ahead and ask them to keep some. If you can't get any boxes, then use bubble wrap and extra strong bin bags. Again, loads of masking tape.

I use a courier service P4D and usually it's only £8.04 without insurance to get it collected from your house and delivered to the buyer. You'll need the dimension of the parcel and the weight, and you just need to put the address on the parcel.

HTH

Thank you so much!! I've had a look at the P4D website and I think this is what i will do. I contacted Tesco and they have LOADS of cardboard if I can collect it before Monday morning. I never would have thought of this.

Thanks again.
