Item lost in post - seller wont refund postage/

Is that standard?

I paid £19 for something that never turned up, seller says she will refund£15 but not the £4 postage. She says the post office will only give her back the value in postage stamps?

I've never had anything that Ive sent go missing so never had to claim, is this correct?

Do I have to loose out on £4?

Thanks

If it's a business seller they''d have to refund you as it's their responsibility to get the item to you.

If it's a personal seller then I think they should - after all she's got the value back in postage stamps so she's not lost out really. I would guess that paypal would find in your favour if you opened a dispute.

all sellers need to refund the full amount. Dealing with claims from the royal mail is their problem not the buyer's and so they should make sure they are covered.
open a dispute and paypal will refund the full amount

Cheers,

I've emailed her back saying so, I really don't want to get into a dispute she seems nice and has 100% feedback so Im really hoping she will agree!

If she doesn't, open the dispute through the paypal page (someone advised me on here to do it that way) they seem to do less faffing about than the ebay claims bit. I had some dvds never arrive before Christmas, my seller was all "oooh give it a few more days" then I opened the claim and was refunded via Paypal almost immediately (mind you, wanky seller had de-registered by then

The seller can claim the postage back in money. I sold something on Amazon which never arrived at the destination. I refunded the buyer in full then claimed my whole loss Amazon payment plus postage from the Royal Mail.

The thing I have learnt from this is always keep a proof of postage in case anything goes missing!

Thankyou, she refunded it all
