WWYD? Seller not helping me with courier arrangements.

Hi, I bought something with the seller saying he would help me arrange a courier.
I have had various emails exchanged, and all I need is measurements of the packages.
So I can arrange the pick up. However he keeps putting it off, saying oh tommorrow..
Due to this I now feel a bit insecure about the whole sale. I did say; I hadn't realised how complicated this could be, if you wanted to end the transaction with no hard feelings that is fine.
That was a couple of days ago with him replying; I will get those measurements for you tommorrow!

This whole thing has been since Sunday I believe.

To be clear, I havn't paid him yet, as I said I would pay him as soon as I have arranged the courier, as originally he was going to do arrange it and then invoice me.

Sorry for it to be so rambley! What would you do?

i would give him a deadline. say you'd like the item, you are going to book the courier on saturday morning

if you haven't heard from him with the exact measurements by then you will be leaving neg feedback

thisisyesterday · 04/02/2010 19:35

or at least opening a dispute.

Purplebuns · 04/02/2010 20:10

The thing is now, I am worried that as it has been a PITA, that there will be something
wrong!
I think I will open a dispute tommorrow if he doesn't get hold of me tonight. I won't hold my breath though, as he has never emailed me, he just responds to my emails.
I can't arrange a courier at all until I have those dimensions, gah!
Also, wouldn't he neg me if I neg him?
His feedback is 11 and mine is 79, (both 100%)so don't want mine tarnished.
Thanks for replying, though.

  • something wrong with the item I must clarify.

What is the item? Can you guesstimate the dimensions? Its not as if the courier measures it.

Although it does have a whiff of dodgy about it.

thisisyesterday · 04/02/2010 20:14

no, sellers can't leave negative feedback any more

Purplebuns · 04/02/2010 20:19

Suwoo, it is a puschair, couldn't really guess dimensions to be honest.

I just don't feel the trust anymore with this transaction, however only sellers appear to be able to end it. I looked into it on ebay

Thank you, Thisis

Also can't ebay discipline me as I haven't paid yet?

maduggar · 05/02/2010 07:18

You cant open a dispute as you havent paid! He can open one on you though, for not paying.

allaboutme · 05/02/2010 07:50

I'd message him and say you need dimensions by x day or you are going to abandon transaction.
He can then open a dispute for you being non paying bidder if he is an arse about it, but I have had this happen to me before and you can simply email ebay copies of your communication to the seller and they will remove the dispute with no effects on your account.

Purplebuns · 05/02/2010 11:24

Hi, I have emailed him, requesting dimensions by Saturday.
Do you think it would be worth paying him just so I am in a better position? It is quite a sum of money,I do not want to lose that much!
Allaboutme, you give me hope, but I am a wuss about being in trouble like that
Thanks for replying everyone

Hi, thank you everyone, looks to be sorted!

But my word what a debacle!! He didn't realise he had to send it in a box!!
And in said of giving me dimensions he sent me a picture of the pushchair folded and said it was about 4ft by 2ft....!!!

Bloomin people!

OP posts:
mogs0 · 05/02/2010 18:08

Can you look up the details of the pushchair and get the dimensions that way? Maybe add on a bit extra for packaging etc? I think there are a couple of couriers that don't ask for dimensions when booking.

pebbles79 · 05/02/2010 22:03

Can you not use a courier that doesn't use dimensions? Senditnow and Parcel2go don't need them.

Purplebuns · 05/02/2010 22:17

Hi, thanks for replying, the matter is resolved now.
