Something dodgy has happened to my paypal account......advice please!!!!

I won an auction on ebay last night and went to pay for the item via ebay this morning. First of all it took ages to log into my account and when I finally logged in I was asked for my debit card details ( the one which is attached to the account). So I filled in the details and was told it couldn't be accepted as the card details were being used for another paypal account . This card has only ever been linked to my paypal account!
Then I went to look at my account details and it wouldn't show me any transactions and said that my balance was £00.000 . I KNOW there was money in there. My account says it's UNVERIFIED but I had it verified in the summer, I didn't realise you had to keep doing this. And even so this wouldn't explain the rejection of my debit card and my empty account would it?
I have emailed paypal and am awaiting a reply.
Does anyone know anything about Paypal? Help advice needed. I have an awful feeling that someone has cleared out my account .

No I haven't had any emails about paypal at all. I'm really careful about emails I open anyway because of viruses etc.
Thanks for the phone link unfortunately I'll bet it's a UK phone number and I'm in Ireland and haven't the cash to phone international ( I only have a mobile). I'll wait and see what Paypal say when they reply via email.

Something has gone wrong with paypal. My business account was hacked this morning between 9 and 11. Two euro payments were taken out. I've reported it and had them reversed. You will need to change your password asap.

paypal account hacking is extremely common. the only reason why it's not so widely reported is because paypal are, on the whole, very quick to deal with it. But I think every person I know has had their paypal account hacked.

Firstly, you should speak to you bank and get your debit card cancelled.

Secondly, if you're able, go into your account and look at your transaction history, and see where the money has gone. You can dispute these transactions and paypal will look into them for you and hopefully refund your money.

I would never use paypal again.

My DS has no Christmas present now as I have no other way of paying for the auction I won. I can't believe it.

I would be careful - I have had several 'phishing' emails saying my paypal credit card needed to be verified. And some saying 'thanks for your ebay purchase of "whatever". They were all fraudulent emails trying to get me to re-key in my credit card details. I have even had a similar email, which looked very official, which claimed to be from inland revenue. Thankfully I twigged before giving them my bank details.

the spoof paypal ones are very genuine-looking. The only difference being that the spoof emails have a link whereas the genuine ones (my paypal account was hacked and I was notified) advise you to log into the account and go to the resolution centre, but no links etc provided in the emails..

Well I've phoned my bank and cancelled my debit card but I'm no nearer to sorting out my Paypal account.
Thanks for the phone number Ebayaddict. I've rung it and I can't get anywhere as it asks for a phone number for my account and I can't remember which one I gave .
Still not heard back from the email that I sent.
