Should I give a refund -- WWYD?

This week I sold a Swarovski crystal pig with a silver tail (bloody horrible thing, never taken it out of the box and had it for about 15 years).

It was sent in the original foam insert, inside the original sturdy box, then put in a small box, surrounded by bubble wrap, put inside a bigger packing box, finally covered in brown paper and posted.

It had fragile written all over it.

I had an email from the recipient yesterday saying she wanted a refund because the tail had snapped off.

She says the paper was ripped slightly but otherwise everything was intact.

My photograph clearly shows the tail in tact when I listed it.

It went for £23 and my return policy does say to email me to discuss the matter.

Is she trying to pull a fast one because she doesnt like it and it is maybe smaller than she thought? (My description does give clear measurements of 4" long and an inch high.

My feedback is 100% albeit I only have 80 but I do have a mix of selling and buying feedback.

She only has one transaction on her feedback.

What would you lot all do?

you need to claim from royal mail and then refund her later

sixlostmonkeys · 28/11/2009 13:50

ask her to send you a photo of the broken bit

Definitely don't refund just on her say so, ask for emailed photo or the return of the entire item and say you'll refund when you've got one or both of those.

It has now gone to Paypal dispute and she is being nasty on email.

I feel really pissed off that I know I sent an in tact item, it was well packaged (as the buyer agreed) and yet Paypal will probably find in her favour and I will be left with a broken thing I didnt want in the first place (hence my selling it).

Grumpy now,.

stay calm in your responses in paypal. explain that you would like to see a photo or have the item returned with the original packaging so that you can refund. She will have to return for a refund anyway.

Thanks Sixlots.

I explained that to her, and that she would have to pay the postage. She refused.

I have managed to stay calm to this point (whilst wanting to punch her) and hope Paypal find in my favour.

Guess I have to just wait and see.

Thanks for your advice.
