Bought a Swimfin it's PINK not RED!

Bought a swimfin thislast week off ebay. Item described a BN RED swimfin in the title, further down mentioned as RED again and then said it for SON who never used it.

I bid and won and it arrived today.... it's frigging hot PINK!

Really annoyed as it's for the DS so totally usless to me now I feel I've been conned as clearly the red is unisex so much more valuable than the pink one. Emailed seller saying such but no reply

Have opened paypal dispute. I refuse to pay postage to return it as I feel I and the other bidders have really been tricked into inflating it's value as it was described as a colour both boys and girls could use rather than just a girl colour that a lot less people would have bid on.

What are my options now? I'm so angry that they have connec me

If you havn't already done so you need to open a significantly not as described complaint with ebay. That is about all you can do if they are a private seller.

If they are a business seller (it will say on the right hand side of the item page near their feedback score) then you can also inform the seller that you require a full refund and that if they want the fin returned that will need to send you a sae or prepaid box to post it back in.

Have a read of this especially the section called returning the goods.

Just had a look and i'm guessing it's the guy in Carlisle. As he is a private seller you can't use the distance selling regs to make him pay for return postage.

ScattyKatty · 06/11/2009 21:36

Thanks. I put my claim under colour significantly different. I'm just so annoyed as I planned to take DS swimming tomorrow with it

What would normally happen in these cases? Private seller so is she likely to refund me or really drag it out?

I just don't see why I should pay cos they lied! Not that they even bothered to reply! I hate Ebay sometimes

out of interest, why cant he go in a pink seat? Unfortuatly, you will have to pay for return postage if you want a refund. This is what paypal will say too.

nikkid21 · 06/11/2009 21:47

Hard to say - she doesn't have a business reputation to lose like me (i have a shop on ebay) so may well drag it out.

As an aside have you tried a swimfin before? They trialled them in dd's classes but stopped as the kids were getting sore, rubbing patches from the velcro straps on the front. Went back to woggles and the square floats in the end.

ScattyKatty · 06/11/2009 21:48

Because I paid for a red one! I didn't agree to a pink one because I don't want a pink one! They put red to get more bids as its unisex where no boys parents would actually PICK pink IMO!

No I've not tried but heard such excellent things that I thought I would. DS hates armbands so I hoped this would be better...

christ, chill. It wasnt me who sold it! You are right to be pissed off that the item isnt the colour the described. I was just asking thats all.

ScattyKatty · 06/11/2009 21:57

I'm not totally anti pink and I don't think it'll turn him instantly gay or anything ridiculous. But I personally do not like pink, I liked red and chose a red one.

Pink ones are not as popular because most boys wouldn't wear one so I feel they have lied to make it appeal to more people and drive the price up.

was there a pic on ebay. Is it bright bright pink or could someone have mistaken it for red? Clutching at straws for you. Cant you go swimming anyways?

ScattyKatty · 06/11/2009 22:04

There was a pic but it's in a bag so TBH you can't really tell either way from the pic. However in RL it is VERY hot pink.

DH would be horrified because it's literally Barbie Pink and he'd hate DS to wear it. If it was a dusky pink i'd live with it but it's so bright I'd feel a bit silly putting it on DS TBH

It says red!

Looks very pink to me. I think if it had been me i would have emailed seller to check colour.

I expect paypal will refund but you will probably have to pay return postage which will have to be signed for.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 13:16

It does look pink (especially comparing it with this one which is red) but if someone has said it is red then why should you think it is pink?

I think you will need to pay return postage though I am afraid.

ScattyKatty · 08/11/2009 19:07

I did think it looked pink in the pic, but TBH she said red 3 times in the description and said it was for a boy so I assumed she was telling the truth!

Any update on this?

SE13Mummy · 13/12/2009 22:25

Not really about the eBay issue per se but I just wanted to say that the swim fins can rub children's backs if they are swimming for a long time or doing lots of jumping in. My DD always wore a 'rash vest' (UV top) over her costume when wearing her swim fin and that did the trick.

She also learnt to swim amazingly quickly once she had the fin.
