What do we think of requests for BIN on an auction item?

I listed a jacket for auction, yesterday, and it has 3 watchers, and five days to run. Someone has asked if I would consider a Buy It Now. What do I do next? Ask them to suggest a figure? Or let the auction run? And can I change it to a BIN anyway?

I sometimes do let them offer a BIN price and if I'm happy with it is what I hope to get or more then I have in the past changed it.
There are time though when someone has offered a BIN and I know that I could potentially get more than they are offering and refuse.
It's up to you really won't do any harm to investigate a bit further and ask them what they are offering.

Every time I put something on ebay I get these requests, and always say no. Not sure why, just stubborn really, if I'd wanted to do a BIN I'd have put one on in the first place! Also you definitely can't change it once you've had a bid...

I have been contacted a couple of times by potential buyers, but they usually suggest a price. I have always declined, and the item has always sold for more than they offered. I think this is a bit like the carbooters who swoop on stalls before they're properly set up, seeking out items they know they'll be able to sell for more later that day.

i always put bin's on, but would happily add one if for anyone who asked. i price a bin at the top end of what i'd expect it to go for, as people are paying for the convenience of getting something straight away (i post fast/first).

i often ask for a bin too, not because i want something for a bargain, but because i want it soon, or i'm away at the end of the auction (i snipe). if someone is asking you to put one on i don't get the problem - you pick a price you'd be happy for it to go for. i've asked in the past and people have said they'll do it but then don't get round to it before a bid's been placed, or just said no. each time the item has eventually sold for less than i'd have been prepared to pay bin.

i don't get the suspicion - understandably many people want an item (esp clothes which i mostly buy/sell) within a particular time frame and are often prepared to pay a slight premium for that.
