Best way of selling old vinyl records?

Any suggestions on the best way to de-clutter old 80's and 90's LP's, 7" and 12" records? Is e-bay the best way to go, and sell them as a few big batches. Or do private dealers pay more?

I've never tried to sell records. Every so often the subject gets discussed on the books board and it makes you realise that it's not for the faint hearted.
Some collectors can be unbelievably picky. What may seem like mint condition to you won't to them. Also, there is a big problem of - a record may play great on your player, but to another who has a different system every teeny tiny scratch and flaw will sound like a pneumatic drill.
many many moons ago I dated a record collector (he also had his own shop) and now you've made all those horrible memories come back [shudder] - he had his speakers on pins - not legs, or brackets or placed on a shelf or the floor but on pins. then.... then he would make me sit and listen to the difference it made to the sound......

anyhoo - you may be ok to sell them if you research completed listings to get an idea and make sure you cover yourself with a detailed description and good photo of the sleeves etc. Good Luck

sixlostmonkeys I definately won't now! I have no desire to get involved with geeky record collectors.

there used to vinyl shop in london.

yes it's best to class yourself lower than you think the condition is, just plainy state that you are not an expert

collectors sometimes advertise in local papers, we used one but basically he just cherry picked the best and probably made his own profit on them

you can buy record packaging on ebay too which you'll need if you sell a few!
