somebody stop me!! Ebay addiction rearing its ugly head.....

OK bit tongue in cheek this one as it hasnt yet become serious. I think. Mebbe I'm kidding myself - but I have gotten overly carried away this month.

Ever since I sold my upgrade phone on ebay ( and hence got over 200 quid in the paypal account) I've been going a little overboard buying things. Mostly inexpensive stuff, but its adding up...(It coincided with doing up my DS's new room so you know - a lamp here - a rug there - not new, but still...)

I have now spent that money and quite a lot more (I dont know how much more - maybe another £100 on top). I really really need to stop. But I think I'm addicted to waiting for the parcels to arrive!

Its stuff we need, but not, like, desperately and we really can't afford it right now.

Stop me in my tracks. Tell me I can live without getting this stuff in the mail!! DH would kill me if he knew!!

Can't help you as I am the same.

Only good thing is I find selling as addictive as buying, so I am always prowling around looking for stuff to sell.

Get dh to change the password on your ebay account so that you can only look at things, then, if you see something you need you have to convince a third party of how desperate the need is before you can bid - funny how things that are desperate become a bit easier to wait for when you start to tell someone else about it

ThreadsDead - yeah I need to get off my bum and starts selling some stuff. I am a hoarder so its tough. But I can always start with DH's rowing machine (I have been given permission LOL!)

KingCanute - not a bad idea actually, but not going to happen I cannot trust him to remember a password (he's lost his own ebay passwords - actually hes forgotten his usernames as well!) and whilst the theory is good, well, I'm just not going to do it. I'm just too sneaky!

Good luck - trust me, telling someone puts you off most things - however, you do need to be disciplined to keep it up - it is easy to start thinking "Oh he won't be interested in this one" or "Well, he won't be back until later"

definitely get into selling. It makes it much easier to justify the buying!

Guilty too I'm afraid, DH keeps seeing this stuff turning up around the house and I keep just saying 'oh we got that ages ago'. I think he just humours me though, I'm sure he must know. Like Smac says if you are selling stuff though, where's the harm - just recycling really

LOL sprouts about post van - I was coming out of toddler group a few weeks back and postie saw me as he was delivering in that street - he promptly went back to the van and brought me out some parcels - saved him leaving me a note as I wasnt at home LOL!

and I'm also extremely familiar with the use of 'had it for aaaaages - you just didnt notice'

Wait until you start selling, I am obsessed with people watching my items.

I was recently at a stage where I was constantly buying, thinking to myself 'oh its only a fiver here and there,' but then I scrolled down looking at my buying totals at an eye watering £327 and decided I need to find a cheaper addiction, so here I am back on mumsnet after a short interval away.

Oooh, and hoping for snipers at the end...clicking refresh refresh refresh. DH does the selling, i just sit with him for the adrenaline rush
