Ebay or auction house for selling furniture?

I have a few quality pieces of furniture I'd like to sell.

Would you choose ebay or an auction house to sell it?

It's all too heavy to post so if we ebayed it we'd either have to do buyer collect, or my DP could deliver but it would involve hiring a van so not cheap for the buyer.

What do you reckon?

TIA

It's very lonely here!

Does anyone have any idea?

I think it depends on where you live. I think buyer collect items only do well if you live in an area which has a large number of potential buyers within an hour's drive. I haven't looked at furniture, but when I was going to sell a TP climbing frame recently I had a look first on eBay. The ones in the South East of England did very well, but similar items in Scotland did pretty badly with only a couple of bids - great for the buyer but not for the seller!

Thanks for the reply PurpleFrog that seems like sound advice.

We're selling the furniture in Cardiff.
