Help - ebay novice with slings to sell requires assistance

Metatron · 21/07/2009 18:06

I am finally admitting there will be no more teeny babies and am selling off my baby stuff.

I have various from slings, cloth nappies, travel cots etc.

Is there a best way to sell things? Any pointers on listings, I have no idea how to do this.

Clean everything up and take some decent pics.

Have a look to see what other people are selling to get an idea of prices. Do a 'sell something similar' and list your items. Make sure that you have a realistic postage price and don't start the bidding too high.

Good luck and have fun!

Metatron · 21/07/2009 18:56

Cheers wahwahwah, how long listings should I do do you think? There seems to be a multitude of choice!

What slings do you have Am in the market for a woven wrap if you have one?

Metatron · 21/07/2009 19:06

I am getting rid of my beloved rainbow coorie, a gorgeous cream and beige stripey mei tai, an ellaroo ring sling a med grey tricotti, a black ergo classic and a waterproof sling cover. Oh and my mamcoat but I might wait till it gets colder.

Oh shame, sorry littlelamb no woven wrap, still at least it proves I wasn't a total sling nut .

Tell me about your coat....
And your mei tai

Cloth slings? If so, try joining ukbabywearingswap - it's a yahoo group for buying/selling slings

Afaik eBay no longer allows sales of 2nd hand cloth nappies, check before listing.

For other things - try an advanced search and include completed listings so you can see what sells / how much it goes for / which listings work.

I try to include a weekend but other than that things don't seem to shift / get much interest for me much before the end - not sure if that's generally true.

As a new seller you'll need a paypal account so you should get that sorted out and start taking pics - in good natural light is best for good colour rendition.

Good luck!

Ellaroo ring sling what colour?

What size is the Tricotti one?

Metatron · 21/07/2009 19:15

Bad littlelamb. I won't enable you...

Mei tai is an old style cwtshi, cream straps, lightly padded shoulders, body is wide beige and wee cream stripes, beige about 4-5 inches, cream about two inches, poppers for top bit to support neck on weeny ones or sleeping bigger ones.

It is v nice in the summer lol!

Coat is a black hell here

one of these in medium. One pocket repaired and one drawstring missing a lock bit on the bottom. I do not have any novelty headwear. Coat fits up to 44" hips with baby in it!

Cross posted! They would def work on ukbws.

wahwahwah · 21/07/2009 19:17

10 days listing is fine - especially during the holiday season.

Work out how much you will need to make to cover the cost of selling.

littlelamb · 21/07/2009 19:20

at novelty headwear. They look like they escaped from Where the Wild Things Are
How much are you after for them?

Metatron · 21/07/2009 19:21

Curlyredhead - much appreciation. My bulging attic thanks you very much. Excellent tips. I have an account but only for buying, although I may have sold a nappy once long ago.

louii - Ellaroo is a kind of faded denim blue colour with white swirly bits, small non-offensive all over it. Tricotti is erm, medium I think, measures 54cm.

Metatron · 21/07/2009 19:26

They do look like where the wild things are - I knew they reminded me of something...

wahwahwah - thanks again, I am such a tube, no idea at all how to do this.

littlelamb - not sure am still checking this out. Make me an offer? Have just checked and both the locky things from the bottom have gone, but I think you get them in millets maybe?

Am very tempted. Can I let you know tomorrow?? Loopymumsy has a babywearing coat and I was admiring it today. I think I need one, I'm fed up of having to carry ds on ym front when it rains, which frankly it looks like it will for the next lifetime few months

CMOTdibbler · 21/07/2009 20:53

Theres a Yahoo group for selling nappies too - I've shifted most of mine on there, and it costs nothing to list them.

Def put all your slings on UKBabywearingSwap first - you're much more likely to get a decent price for them and most things move fairly fast. You can search the messages to find what prices are for what you have

Babieseverywhere · 21/07/2009 21:02

You could also try listing them on www.thebabywearer.com as well.
Little lamb, I have a few sling for sale including a couple of Didymos wraps and a merry carry one, what are you looking for ?

Metatron · 21/07/2009 21:05

You are all wonderful!

Ta v much. God knows what else I have lurking. littlelamb - absolutely let me know tomorrow. It is a great coat v useful year round for me (scottish lol!)
