I bought something off ebay but it arrived damaged. The seller isn't responding to my emails so I have . I made a claim thru paypal. Paypal is asking me for a tracking number which I don't have. There was never one given. It arrived through royal mail and I signed for it but I no longer have the box. I've never been asked for a tracking number/code in previous claims I've made. can anyone advise?

was it damaged by post?as this would need to be taken up with royal mail not the seller its down to mail to get it to you in one piece

You need to ring paypal and try and explain to them that this email has been sent to the wrong person - it is the seller that needs to provide proof of delivery.

Unless they are asking you for the RETURN tracking code, assuming you've returned the item? Ring them up in any case, good luck.

I haven't sent it back, I haven't gotten an address to send it back to.

It wasn't damaged in the post, it is obviously damaged through usage.

I will try to contact paypal thanks

If the item is damaged, you must return it. This is why paypal want the tracking number - it allows them to check the item has been sent back to the seller.

If the damage was caused in Transit, the seller would then contact Royal Mail if they had adequate cover on the parcel. However as its not transit damage, they wont have a claim.

For items that do arrive damaged via transit, its always the seller who has to refund and take up with Royal Mail as the contract is between the sender and Royal Mail and not the receiver.

If the buyer isn't responding to your emails you can request their contact details from ebay. They will give you their address and telephone number. For security reasons they only do this if you have completed a transaction with a seller - they don't just give it out willy nilly.
You give the item number as evidence and they check their records and send you an email.
