How long does payment take to process?

I sold an item yesterday afternoon which still says "Payment was initiated on 21-Jun-09 and is being processed through PayPal"

I always thought payment was immediate through Paypal. I've never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes for it to process.
If I go into 'My Ebay' to my 'Sold items' there's a button which says 'Claim your payment'. When I press on it it takes me to my Paypal account but there is no sign of anything processing? Do I wait for it to process? Or am I supposed to claim my payment somehow?

There have been a few threads like this recently- it sometimes seems to be due to either the buyer or seller not being "verified"...check through the old threads....I'm sure I remember something similar coming up...

I found a thread with the same query but it said something about email addresses. I can log into paypal with both my email addresses. Is this confusing things? Or has it got something to do with the buyer? Maybe I'll just give it until the end of the day and see if it processes.
It's just weird that it's not even showing up as 'processing' on my Paypal account

That's the one I remember seeing, something about the seller needing to get verified I think?

Thanks Bucharest, I'm hoping it's just the verification thing. I just thought it should say 'payment pending' or something on my Paypal account.
I did add another email address to paypal so I'm hoping it hasn't got confused!

Im on the opposite end of this... I won and paid for an item (have money in my pay pal account) but it says something along the lines of processing payment I have emailed seller asking if they knew why it hasnt cleared but had no reply. No reason I can find at my end made another payment the same day and that cleared fine.

I've just discovered my email address needed confirming. It's not at all obvious. I really had to search through my Paypal account to find a notice saying something like "confirm email address"
Payment then cleared immediately.
Maybe the person you have bought from needs to do the same?

Thanks for the info fruity still had no reply from them so will email them again. I dont want them getting annoyed at me for not paying- and its not through lack of trying.
