Can you retract feedback anymore?

I have over 1000 stars and have just received a neutral.

Buyer won a book on 21/5/09, I posted it 22/5/09 and clearly it hasn't arrived as the feedback just says that it wasn't received. This buyer never informed me that the book hadn't arrived - he just left feedback. I am really disappointed as when I post things, I always email a notification and I always ask for them to contact me in advance of leaving feedback if there is a problem.

I haven't contacted this person yet, obviously the item has been lost in the post and I could claim against RM with my proof of posting.

Can he retract it? I haven't emailed him yet, but am about to.

If they don't revise, I'm going to start carbooting stuff I think. It is terrible that buyers can get away with this.

sadly buyers have the power and sellers have none and most of us are desperate to keep the 100% we bow to the buyers.
Are they new to ebay? I think some buyers just don't get it and are hasty in writing feedback without contacting seller first, which IMO is only polite (and the rules)

i've got 975 f/b and got a neg recently for buyer having to pay postage but my postage was correct. sent them £2 to cover their costs and put the neg down to experience!

its always going to be difficult to keep 100%.

I wouldn't worry too much either way - neutral feedback doesn't affect your % so you will stay on 100% anyway. By all means ask the buyer to withdraw their feedback, but if they don't I would just refund them anyway, and add a response to the feedback saying 'Lost in post, buyer refunded in full'. No one will take any notice of one neutral.

I agree - nobody goes on percentages any more, everyone reads the feedback and makes a case-by-case judgment.

In the past few weeks I've bid on something from somebody who had a neg from a nutter (all capitals, gives it away) and decided not to bid on something from a seller who'd responded to two calm, reasoned negatives with R SOLE

Yes just revised fb I left for a seller, on their request - they refunded me for my costs and I was happy to do so.

I agree the system is shite for sellers now - just had a UPI dispute for something a total timewaster bought then didn't want to collect. I'll prob get a negative but can't do much about it unless it contains profanities etc. then they might remove it.

I have 750 positive too so v annoying.

I don't think the person is even going to bother to respond to the request.

I think it's really mean - I notified them by email that the item had been posted and specifically asked to be contacted if there was a problem with the item or the post prior to leaving feedback. They totally ignored this and they are ignoring my request for revison. My emails have been polite and I gave the refund as soon as I saw the feedback - they didn't even have to make a PayPal claim and they haven't even said thanks!

I know nobody will take notice of one neutral like this, especially as I can put a reasonable comment underneath it, but I just think it was really nasty to spoil my 1000+ all positives without even contacting me. Even though I have the proof of posting, eBay won't bother to remove this feedback if this buyer doesn't respond.

crokky we all know that eBay has its share of idiots who like leaving neg f/b.

trust me, as another poster said most people read the comments and dont just look for 100% - i know how you feel;its not fair is it?

Its for precisely this reason Is end everyhting I sell by recorded delivery. yes it works out more expensive, but it means I don't get loads of peope saying they didn't receive it and then claiming their money back
