relisted an item and buyer has now paid

Just wondering what you would do. I'm registered as a business seller and buy stuff to sell. I'm waiting for some new stock to come in so I don't have a spare of this particular item at the moment.
A buyer purchased an item 9 days ago, after about 6 days I emailed and said 'your package is packed and ready to go I'm just waiting for payment' no reply so on day 7 I opened an Unpaid item case and yesterday (day 8 I relisted the item.)
This evening - day 9 since the item sold they have paid.
The relisted item now has one bid on it.
I don't really want to spill and say what it is that I am selling but they are selling well. The price the non payers paid wasn't stunning but reasonable. I don't want to get negged as I have 100% feedback but I think paying on day 9 is taking the piss. If I had more stock I'd let it go but I don't . . .
Thoughts please

If there's more than 24 hours to go on the auction you can end the listing and it'll automatically cancel the bids. No-one will have actually won it and therefore neither you or the bidder can leave feedback anyway.

I thought you had 10 days to pay on Ebay - am I wrong?

aristocat · 12/05/2009 23:04

i agree, and think you need to end the listing. however they are having a laugh paying on day 9.

7 days is more than enough time - how can a seller deliver an item quickly when buyers are slow paying? [hmn]

thisisyesterday · 12/05/2009 23:08

i would end it and sell to the original buyer too.
i agree that 9 days is excessive.
but i also think you were a bit quick to relist (only a day after filing the unpaid item dispute)

seeker
"we recommend paying within three days of the sale" according to ebay help
but you can start an unpaid item dispute 7 days after the auction ends so I always assumed that 7 days was the norm.

I don't mind slow payers iftheycommunicate - I've had quite a few new ebayers with no paypal account and as long as they email me I'm fine with it.

mmm okay thisisyesterday I agree maybe too quick to relist this time but non payers wind me up

Did you relist as a new item? I think that was the mistake tbh. Once the dispute has gone through the original listing is closed (so the buyer couldn't then pay) and you can relist it then. (Did that make sense?)

Surely the buyer won't be able to leave feedback if you refund and cancel the original listing. Am a bit confused!

Pingpong · 12/05/2009 23:24

In the sold section I clicked on resovle a problem (RHS blue writing) and then the following day I selected relist from the same drop down menu.
The bar now states that the item has been paid and an ebay note states there is an open unpaid dispute plus another ebay note states that I have relisted this item.
I didn't do a fresh listing.

but you are right if I refund and the transaction doesn't go ahead they won't get the opportunity to leave feedback. Right?

No, I think they can still leave feedback actually. I have been refunded for stuff but still left feedback. Not in a negative manner, but they can still leave feedback, yes.

I was hoping I would get a delivery today and not have to make a decision but the parcel that came did not have the required items in it!!! ho hum.
I have another ebay problem but I'll start another thread for that one
Thanks anyway ladies
