Have entered my maximum bid and it now shows as "bid over XXX". How do I make sure I win now?

Surely if it's showing "bid over xxxx" anyone else watching knows to just bid oover that at last minute. Have I just got to watch it like a hawk in final seconds?

It's only a cheap thing but I want it because it's something we need. I need it more than the other watchers.

If you need it, then you have to put a bid in bigger than other bidders might put. They can't see what your max bid is, and watching it in the final few seconds won't do any good if someone else in those final seconds puts a big bid in.
So if you Neeeeed something you have to bid big.
Funny how 'cheap' things on ebay always seem to go for a lot.
Please post to say what it was, how much you bid and whether you got it!

I almost never bid until the last 20 seconds.
And i always bid an odd amount ie £5.34 so hopefully i outbid anyone else who might just bid £5.

I get fed up bidding at the last min.
So I put a bid in for what I would genuinely go up to as a max, then don't look at it again till I get the email to see if I've won or not.
If not, then on ebay there's always another along soon.
I get a lot of bargains doing it that way - I find that other bidders are put off if there's already been a bid early.

I use that technique flibberty but haven't won anything for ages. TBH getting a bit fed up with it now
