Not happy with a pushchair I bought. What to do next??

Bought a pushchair that was described as in excellent condition. There was no picture but the seller was a power seller with 99% positive feedback.

Anyway pushchair has just turned up. I think it's in quite a grubby, worn state, marks on the hood and fabric and a small tear near the straps.

What should I do now. Have I shafted myself because I bought it without seeing a picture

Naw. Did you pay by paypal? If so you will get your money back almost definitely.

Approach the seller politely first saying no hard feelings but your standards of excellent are a bit different!

See what they suggest, go from there...

gah hate offending people and she seems nice and sent it very quickly, but I can't keep it considering what I paid.

How does this sound

Hi

I recieved the pushchair this morning but unfortunately I do not feel that the pushchair is in the "excellent condition" you described. The material is quite faded in places with a number of marks on the hood and fabric. There is also a small tear near the straps that was not mentioned. I hope we can resolve to find an amicable solution

Thank you

Sorry for break, I was on school run...yes, that sounds good.

You could also start with something like' Hi, Thanks so much for sending the pushchair so quickly. I'm sorry to say that I'm a bit disappointed with the condition - I expect you didn't notice there is a small tear in the fabric and also some marks, no hard feelings but I would be grateful if we might come to an arrangement regarding this.
'

but what you put sounds great. I always try too hard to be extra friendly about stuff like this, I hate confrontation, and as a seller it always freaks me out to get a complaint!!

Good luck, let me know how you go x

I always add on the end, "How can we resolve this please?" as it puts ball in their court and you might end up with a better resolution than if you had suggested what might happen.

If you aren't happy with the response then put a dispute in with paypal.

ConnorTraceptive · 07/05/2009 16:22

Well she has responded and offered me some money back but tbh I don't want the pushchair at all. The wheels are really worn to and as ds is only a year old I was hoping for something with a bit more life in it.

arrgh hate confrontation. Is it unreasonable to ask for full refund and return the buggy. If I took a part refund and relisted it on ebay I still wouldn't recoup my costs.

Yes Connor, although you will probably have to pay for return carriage. There are some cheap couriers about that will do it for about £7 I think.

Paypal would let you return it so unless she wants a dispute on her hands she'll agree.

Poor you - I had this once, it was awful

ConnorTraceptive · 07/05/2009 17:16

I'm going to reply and say I want to return it. I will compromise to pay return carriage. Parcels2go will do it for about &7 or £8 so I can stomach that.

You have to fund the return costs yourself anyway. Refunds only include item cost plus original postage.

i had this very same problem with a pushchair i bought,
the seller offered a refund (of the sale price NOT the postage)if i returned it via the same courier she had sent it with, parcelforce @ £20,but as she'd also sent it with them, i would have paid £40 and got nothing out of it and she would have her buggy back to resell and she would not have been out of pocket,
so i just kept it as it wsa easier!
