Sending a pushchair without a box - is it possible?

I want to sell an umbrella folding stroller on ebay but I don't have the original box.

Have you ever sold and sent a pushchair without a box? Do you just wrap up in plastic or something? Will Parcelforce take it? Or should I just sell for local pick-up only, though might get a lower price for it?

Any advice from your experiences would be gratefully received.

Yes, you wrap it in bubble wrap, then open out a big cardboard box and wrap it round, iyswim. Then use smaller bits to make ends, and lots of tape!

I wouldn't be too impressed about receiving a buggy covered in tape and not in a box personally. Put it for pick up only.

Exactly what Scorpio said. I have also once send a puschair wrapped in flattened cardboard, then a whole roll of cling film and got a special mention for my packaging in my feedback!

go to a supermarket/corner store and nab some crisp boxes, they are perfect for the job.

Also www.senditnow.com are far cheaper than going through Parcefl Force direct but it's the same thing if you didn't already know that. £10.99 for 48hr UK.

I have had an Mb sent to me wrapped in big bubble bubble wrap and bin liners, well taped in parcel tape. It was fine.
My Parcelforce man says as long as it is well taped it is ok.
However it is easy to do as the others have said and cobble a cardboard box together.

Just a note about completely wrapping stuff in cling film - the Post Office postage labels just come straight off it.

It's fine to wrap it like that. TBH if the listing didn't say it would be in its original box I'd just assume bubble wrap and bin liners, maybe with cardboard to protect delicate bits. If you're worried the buyer won't be happy you could always add a line saying "I haven't kept the original box but will package securely" or something like that.

Wow thanks for all the replies. I feel a bit more confident now about sending it. I have bought a few (smaller) things off ebay and they do arrive in various cobbled together / re-used packages.

I sent a car seat in 2 large chinchilla house boxes from the pet shop fitted together - as long as you pack securely and it arrives in perfect condition all'll be fine.

Worth mentioning in the listing though that it won't be posted in original packaging - but then again who does keep the original box for something they bought a couple of years ago - apart from my mum!!

I sold a mahoosive 3 wheeler with no box, I mentioned it in my listing that it would be posted in makeshift packaging.

I used 3 rolls of bubble wrap, 2 bin bags and I am lucky enough to have a pram shop near me so managed to blag a few big boxes which I had to cut and wrap around the pushchair, then lots and lots of masking tape!
