Sold a designer item and buyer says its fake...HELP..

Its NOT a fake at all. Its genuine, I NEVER buy fakes and im quite upset with her email..
I bought the ralph lauren polo top in Marbella last year, paid full price for it ((I though £100 ish BUT dh said it was around £60..I never understand Euros..)
I have worn it around 2 times so its immaculate. The buyer won my auction for £15 and today I get this email:

I am sorry to tell you that I am not satisfied at all with the white Ralph Lauren Poloshirt. As I already own several I was able to compare them and allthough it is the first "big pony" model I have ordered there are massive differences in the quality. In addition on the buttons is no "Ralph Lauren" carving and the shirt fits completely different to my other skinny fit poloshirts. Therefore I come to the conclusion that allthough you stated it to be genuine it must be fake, and quite a bad imitation as well!
Therefore I would like a refund and an explanation or I see myself forced to leave a negative feedback.
Thanks for your understanding

What do I do..? Part of me thinks that it doesn't fit therefor she thinks its a fake..? I bought it from a RL boutique and im frantically now looking for the receipt BUT if I can't find it what do I do..?
I don't want negative feedback YET I don't want the top back if its a case of her changing her mind iykwim..?

Advice appreciated x

I would just give her the refund (minus the postage) she has obviously been buying fakes and cant tell the real deal when she sees it, just tell her to post it back to you and you will give a refund once you recieve it in the same condition it was posted (i.e not worn)

Hi, I have found the receipt and it shows the item. BUT it shows as

a code, ralph lauren and a code...

I have another item still thats one the receipt and have checked the item labels and the top does have part of this code on the tag so I guess its the same with the polo top iykiwm.

Im a bit loathed to refund her as it means I loose out on postage and ITS NOT A FAKE!
The item is immauclate and TBH a bargin which is what I told her before she placed a bid.No marks/damage etc.

Just to add: she is also a new ebayer (since mar '09) and has 2 feedbacks.

I have been on ebay since July'03 with over 210 feedback's....

I know it means more to me to get bad feedback BUT why should I back down when I know im right..?

DevilsAdvocaat · 21/04/2009 15:29

i think you can reply to bad feedback though.
so you can say you have the receipt on your feedback?
i would offer to send her a copy of the receipt tbh.

VinegarTitsThePorker · 21/04/2009 15:29

You wont loose out on postage, you dont refund her postage and she pays the postage to send it back to you

Doesnt matter how long she has been on ebay, if she is not happy with it then you are being more than fair by refunding the actual price (not the postage) if she still leaves negative feeback then dispute it with ebay

shhhh · 21/04/2009 15:33

Just don't understand why it sould be refunded etc...

I have proof its genuine, it is genuine so why because its doesn't fit/she doesn't like it should it be refunded.?!

Hmmm............
Have emailed her to say its genuine etc and will send a copy of receipt. Will see what she says.

I have heard of buyers making this claim, getting you to agree to a refund, adn then sending you back a 'real' fake, iyswim. They then have your genuine item for lots of money. Don't know what you can do about it, though.

pagwatch · 21/04/2009 15:35

There is no point in getting indignant about it - she just doesn't think it is real. Let her send it back althoughdo make sure you tell her that you have the receipt.
You may even find you get more money by listing it again - now we are all feeling sunnery

shhhh · 21/04/2009 15:39

Thanks pagwatch and fris...

Just upsets me that someone can say something which I know not to be true iykiwm...

Will see what she says to the email and go from there..

have a look on goofbay to see what else she has been buying. She may be in the habbit of this and as sellers can't leave FB......

pinkmagic1 · 21/04/2009 17:27

I wouldn't take it to heart. Tell her she can have a refund as soon as you recieve the item back in the same condition that you sent it. really not worth getting negative feedback over an idiot like this.

lizandlulu · 21/04/2009 17:32

i agtree with pinkmagic, not worht getting a negative for it, i have had buyers along the same lines as this, just put it down to a bad experience...again

shhhh · 21/04/2009 17:38

aww thanks everyone.
Guess I do need to rise above it. Think im just annoyed as I feel sad that she thinks its fake when I know it isn't...

not heard back from her yet..

I would be wary it was the "it is real but send back a fake one" scam, and as it'll be tracked PP would find in favour of the buyer as it would show something sent back.

You could call their bluff by saying it's been security marked ;) and that once you recieve it and confirm it's the correct item, you'll be happy to refund.

I'd go to the Ebay forums and ask for some advice there, they know all the loopholes and how to deal with it far better than we would.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2009 15:28

Be careful though, you can't leave negative feedback for her these days!

expatinscotland · 22/04/2009 15:35

I had this happen to me and stood my ground and got my money back from PP, too, that they gave to this lying biatch.

I never sold on Ebay again.

Too many scammers and now Ebay makes it impossible for seller's to have rights, too.

shhhh · 22/04/2009 18:59

Thanks everyone...still not heard back from her....

TBH it took her around a week to notify me that she wasn't happy..imo if I got something I wasn't happy with then I would bring up the issue straight away..no matter how busy I was...

Hmm...waiting to see what she says. Last night I did also send a copy of the receipt..

You are right expat, dh sold a playstation (BNIB) on ebay a few yrs ago. Unknown to dh it was paid for on a credit card that was stolen. Even though sent courier and dh had proof paypal still refunded the poor person who's credit card it was..sadly dh never got the ps back . Out of pocket by a few hunder £'s. .

In fact im sure paypal are still chasing dh for unpaid fee's. Dh refusses to pay. Why should he.??! I agree, ebay and paypal don't always help.

God, there are some dodgy people around! Glad you got ok feedback and hope she doesn't bother you again.

lizandlulu · 24/04/2009 10:06

trying it on then! bet you did a little pat on the back for holding your nerve!

shhhh · 24/04/2009 15:09

I did l&l...BUT still a bit that she may come back iykiwm...

Just don't understand it..was not happy, told me so then without further info left me feedback.. bizarre...

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 24/04/2009 15:19

she probably knew that you wastn going to be a pushover, once you emailed her back she just gave up. i would have told her to send it back and she would have got her money back but then she wouldnt have gained anything, but some people might have told her they would refund her and to chuck the item or take it to the charity shop maybe? not really sure what she wanted from you!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 24/04/2009 17:06

yup reckon she knew that she wasn't going to be able to run her little scam on you.

Make sure you add her to blocked bidders. Wonder if you'd get in trouble for sharing her id on here so we can all block her too?!

shhhh · 25/04/2009 10:42

Possibly she did. Just checked email and she has sent me an email apologising for wrongly accusing me. Bit annoyed she put me through it tbh BUT at least I got an apology. She seems to think that because it wasn't like her otehr tops = its fake

Seems she has back tracked once she got a copy of the receipt..

Thanks everyone for the advice & much needed support x
